DESCRIPTION:Sunday is the Superbowl and our Patriots are on the march for another trophy and set of rings.  And with football comes a few tasty drinks.  And no Sunday necessitates fine libations more than the Superbowl.  We have some great beer sales going on right now in honor of the games which you should come and check out\, but while you are here on Sunday we will also have the knowledgeable Ken Zuckerman here to pour out some of the most unique ciders in the store. \nSpain has two regions for cider\, Asturias and Basque\, both in the north.  While Basque sidras  have a good name in the United States\, Asturias produces the bulk of the countries sidras.  Ken will be pairing select sidras from Asturias with some delicious artisan chocolates.  He will be pouring two sparkling sidras\, Riesta Guzman and Angelon.  You might remeber these from when he did a tasting last time.  While made of apples\, these can easily replace any sparkling wine.  Diamantes de Hielo by Grusifas is ice cider with a deep amber color.  A great desert drink.  Finally we will do a fan favor Sidra de Pera from Angelon. \n

DESCRIPTION:We have begun our move to favoring local ciders and Harvard Cider Co. is one of the closest to the store.   These guys haven’t been around for a long time\, but they have already begun to establish a strong foothold throughout the state.  We have been proud to carry a brand of cider that utilizes the orchards that can be found throughout this area.  On November 19th\, 2-4pm\, Harvard Cider will be here pouring out their goods.  Anchor is their straight forward cider that is at the heart of their brand.  Paradise has been steeped with orange peel and grains of paradise.  Missing Link has been dry hopped to add a bitter\, hoppy bite.  Harvard’s experimentation has produced ciders that deserve to make it into your cart.  But just to give you that extra push\, if need\, we will be selling 4 packs of each of these ciders for $8.99\, with the sale beginning for the tasting.  Come out to check out the local cider makers and bring home some cider for your Thanksgiving or just everyday drinking.

SUMMARY:Sam Adams Stein Hoisting Competition.
DESCRIPTION:You might have seen this in a Sam Adams commercial.  A bunch of people standing in a circle\, holding a full beer stein out in front of them for as long as they can.  What you might not have known is that if you can hold a stein in front of you long enough\, Sam Adams will send you to Las Vegas to compete in the National Stein Hoisting competition.  The winner of that will be sent to next years Oktoberfest in Munich to compete in the World Championships.  Think you’ve got the shoulder strength and endurance to go all the way?  Come out Saturday October 15th when we will be an official location for people to try to qualify for this competition.  People will be hoisting steins outside\, but we will also be grilling up burgers and hotdogs.  On the inside\, we’ll have tastings of Sam Adams\, Angry Orchard\, and Truly Seltzer.  We’ll have plenty of beer swag for people to take home\, but the top times will bring home their own Steins. Everyone who enters the competition will be part of a raffle for a charcoal grill courtesy of Sam Adams.  Come test your shoulder endurance and join us Saturday October 15th from 1-3pm.

DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of year again where the leaves start to change\, the crispness is in the air\, and fall beers are coming into season.  It is also this time of year that we do our Grand Oktoberfest tasting.  For those who do not know about it\, we will open every Oktoberfest and Pumpkin beers we have in stock.  And I mean everything.  We will be opening over 50 beers from foreign and domestic breweries.  Not only will there be copious amounts of beer\, we will also be grilling up bratwurst for everyone.  And to top it all off\, we will be raffling some great stuff too.  With a fire pit\, a grill\, and a record player to name just a few\, your only chance to enter will be during the tasting.  So with all this in mind\, we hope to see everyone here September 26th\, 1-4pm.

SUMMARY:Newburyport/Bantam
DESCRIPTION:For our first tasting of the year we are having some of my favorite Massachusetts libations producers come in for a 2-for-1 tasting.  For beer we will have the always great Newburyport Brewing Co.  This north shore brewery makes one of Mass’ best year round IPAs with their Green Head IPA.  As well as this fine IPA\, they will have Melt Away Session IPA and Plum Island Belgium White to sample as well.  As for cider\, the Somerville cider makers of Bantam will be kind enough to let us sample some of their stuff.  Their Wunderkind is a great dry cider in a sea of sweet Massachusetts ciders.  We will also be tasting their Rojo\, with sour cherries and peppercorns\, and Americain\, a mixture of old world\, new world cider making techniques that great a really unique\, pie-like flavor.  Come try them all and see why they are some of my favorites.  Saturday\, August 1st 1-3.
