This is the one time of year where enjoying a good beer with friends for a week long extravaganza is not frowned upon. For the rest of the year\, this behavior is usually frowned upon. But for that one week\, the rest of the world disappears and the only thing that matters is keeping your glass half full. \nUnfortunately\, blue laws hold us back so week long binge drinking is not considered the wisest of choices. That doesn’t mean we can’t have fun. In fact\, that is exactly what we are proposing. Join us for our Annual Oktoberfest where gut bier is on the menu. From traditional O-fest beers to the modern pumpkin ale\, this Oktoberfest will be as good as it gets. \nLike past festivals\, we will be playing a medley of O-fest songs over the speakers throughout the event while offering free grub for attendees. SUMMARY:Goose Island Bourbon County Vintage Tasting
DESCRIPTION:With all the Goose Island fever going around here at Colonial\, what better way to end it all that with our biggest tasting of them all.  On December 7th\, starting at 6pm\, we will be opening bottles of Bourbon County Brand Stout\, Coffee\, and Barleywine going back to at least 2013.  While we are keeping the line up close to the chest for a while\, I will divulge that we will be opening some special bottles from previous years.  Which ones?  How old?  There is only one way of finding out.  This was a very popular event last year\, so make sure to keep an eye out for that special Hop on the Bus email.  Like last year\, you will have to RSVP and pay for your ticket.  Space was very limited last year with only 20 spots and it is looking like that will be the case again this year.  While this event is still a ways away\, but I would like plant the seed early.  Stay alert\, because a tasting of this caliber only comes once a year.

DESCRIPTION:We did this back in October and it was a lot of fun.  So much fun that we decided to do it all over again.  December 2nd\, starting at 6pm\, we will be opening bottles of Sofie and Matilda from this year as well as bottles of Lolita\, Juliet\, Halia\, Madame Rose\, and Gillian all from 2015. With wild ales like these\, we found that giving them a year to sit and mellow out was the right call\, so we’re doing it again.  Keep an eye out for an email in which you can RSVP to.  This was a fun\, relaxed tasting in which we had some fun with some very nice\, rather expensive beers.  It is a great opportunity to try a $30 bottle of fruit added sour ale without paying the $30 price tag.  It does hurt that instead of one\, we will be tasting five.

DESCRIPTION:For the second year in a row we will host the Goose Island Black Friday Bourbon Country release. This was a huge success last year and we don’t see why it won’t be again. We will be opening our doors at 9am on Friday\, November 25th. Once the doors open\, we will be funneling people into our tasting room where we will have the Barleywine\, Coffee\, and Brand Stout. It will be first come\, first serve\, so I would recommend getting here early. To put it in perspective\, the first people showed up last year around 5:30am. We will have a limit on the Brand Stout\, but it will be over a case. We have not decided the limits on the Barleywine yet\, but due to the lack of stock on Coffee\, we will be limiting it to one bottle per person. We will also have previous years’ Barleywine and Brand Stout for sale as well. \nWhile waiting in line and walking around the store\, we will be pouring samples of the 2016 Brand Stout\, 2014 Brand Stout and 2014 Barleywine as well as be handing out free pastries. Hopefully everyone will not eat so much the day before that they cannot wolf down a few sweet treats.

SUMMARY:Sam Adams Stein Hoisting Competition.
DESCRIPTION:You might have seen this in a Sam Adams commercial.  A bunch of people standing in a circle\, holding a full beer stein out in front of them for as long as they can.  What you might not have known is that if you can hold a stein in front of you long enough\, Sam Adams will send you to Las Vegas to compete in the National Stein Hoisting competition.  The winner of that will be sent to next years Oktoberfest in Munich to compete in the World Championships.  Think you’ve got the shoulder strength and endurance to go all the way?  Come out Saturday October 15th when we will be an official location for people to try to qualify for this competition.  People will be hoisting steins outside\, but we will also be grilling up burgers and hotdogs.  On the inside\, we’ll have tastings of Sam Adams\, Angry Orchard\, and Truly Seltzer.  We’ll have plenty of beer swag for people to take home\, but the top times will bring home their own Steins. Everyone who enters the competition will be part of a raffle for a charcoal grill courtesy of Sam Adams.  Come test your shoulder endurance and join us Saturday October 15th from 1-3pm.

SUMMARY:7th Annual Fall Grand Wine Tasting - Part 2
DESCRIPTION:Welcome\, to our 7th Annual Fall Grand Wine Tasting. We find ourselves\, once again\, heading into fall and nothing defines the changing of the season more than the switch from white wine to red wine. However\, all is not lost for white wine because this grand wine tasting doesn’t focus on just red wines\, in fact\, white\, rosé\, and sparkling wines all make an appearance. This is the most dynamic of our “Grand Tastings” as the focus is on wines that pair well with fall. What says the night is young like a good\, oaky Chardonnay. Or\, better yet\, ever had grilled salmon with a hearty Pinot Noir? Regardless of whether you have an affinity for or an aversion to red or white wine\, there will be something here for everyone. \nLike past grand wine tastings\, this is a two-weekend event. Neither weekend is the same. None of the reps are the same\, so none of the wines are the same. Each weekend is unique\, so if you miss one weekend you have missed the opportunity to try around 50 or so unique wines. We find ourselves\, once again\, heading into fall and nothing defines the changing of the season more than the switch from white wine to red wine. However\, all is not lost for white wine because this grand wine tasting doesn’t focus on just red wines\, in fact\, white\, rosé\, and sparkling wines all make an appearance. This is the most dynamic of our “Grand Tastings” as the focus is on wines that pair well with fall. What says the night is young like a good\, oaky Chardonnay. Or\, better yet\, ever had grilled salmon with a hearty Pinot Noir? Regardless of whether you have an affinity for or an aversion to red or white wine\, there will be something here for everyone. \nLike past grand wine tastings\, this is a two-weekend event. Neither weekend is the same. None of the reps are the same\, so none of the wines are the same. Each weekend is unique\, so if you miss one weekend you have missed the opportunity to try around 50 or so unique wines. DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of year again where the leaves start to change\, the crispness is in the air\, and fall beers are coming into season.  It is also this time of year that we do our Grand Oktoberfest tasting.  For those who do not know about it\, we will open every Oktoberfest and Pumpkin beers we have in stock.  And I mean everything.  We will be opening over 50 beers from foreign and domestic breweries.  Not only will there be copious amounts of beer\, we will also be grilling up bratwurst for everyone.  And to top it all off\, we will be raffling some great stuff too.  With a fire pit\, a grill\, and a record player to name just a few\, your only chance to enter will be during the tasting.  So with all this in mind\, we hope to see everyone here September 26th\, 1-4pm.

SUMMARY:Annual Grand Tasting for Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Beer
DESCRIPTION:This tasting will be HUGE. Every year we gather up all the Pumpkin and Oktoberfest beers we can get our hands on and have a grand tasting showcasing the whole lot.  We are opening over 50 kinds of beer from brewers near and far.  We have many Oktoberfest beers from Germany as well as from all around the US.  We have Pumpkin porters\, pumpkin ales\, and pumpkin ciders that will satisfy any lover of all things pumpkin.  We will be grilling up bratwurst as well and all of this is completely FREE!  This is our biggest tasting of the year and an event that will be both informative and fun.    This will be an all-hands-on-deck tasting.  Everyone here will be helping with the tasting\, so it is a nice time to come out and interact with our staff.  Representatives from different breweries will be helping us pour their seasonal brews.  This is the granddaddy of beer tastings and one you will not want to miss.
