SUMMARY:Wither Hills & Sophora Wine Tasting w/ Liz
DESCRIPTION:We welcome back our favorite Kiwi\, Liz\, who will be representing Wither Hills and Sophora wines.\nIn a not too distant past\, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc was anything but known. Now we can’t seem to get enough of it. Some wineries rely on their legacy for continued growth\, while others put it all on the table. Wither Hills is the latter. \nOnce a source of Sauvignon Blanc for some of the wineries of today\, Wither Hills has decided that producing their own wines was going to be the plan going forward. The Sauvignon Blanc is crisp and palate enticing. The Pinot Noir is lush with lean fruit notes and a nice backbone of smoke. \nSophora is a sparkling wine producer based out of New Zealand. New Zealand’s wide range of regions and cooler climate makes it the perfect country for sparkling wines. These wines have life and resonate with the vibrancy that New Zealand wines are known for. With hints of quince\, orange rind\, and lemongrass these sparklers offer just as many nuances and flavors as the rest. \nBoth Wither Hills and Sophora produce great wines\, but nothing beats finding out for yourself.

SUMMARY:Try Something New Wine Tasting Series
DESCRIPTION:From Ancient Lakes to Mudgee: Try Something New Wine Tasting Series. Because wine is fun.\nWine is fun; what a concept. And what better way to enjoy and see the beauty of wine than with a wine tasting? Sampling wines is a staple for most wine shops. They allow buyers to decide if a particular bottle is a fit for the store. Or they give you\, the customer\, the opportunity to try it before buying it. Not every wine is for everyone and finding the right one can sometimes be difficult. \nWine Enthusiasts have been alienated by the wine industry. Partly because of the sheer number of wines there are\, and partly because describing wines can be overwhelming. \n“Flower petals atop oak shavings with blackberry undertones.” Did you not get the same notes? \nAlthough the industry tries desperately to make wine easy\, at times it feels like they are making things harder. We know that describing wines is not everyone’s forté\, and that wine is personal\, which is why we are bringing them to you. \nWine should be something we are all comfortable with. Like bread\, fruits\, and the other foods we eat.\nWine is a consumable which is why enjoying it is more important than describing it. And why trying it is the best way of knowing. Which is why for 2018 we will be introducing the Try Something New wine tasting series. The idea is to bring to the table wines that are new and unique. We are going to bring FUN back to wine by reminding everyone that wine is first meant to be a learning experience. Like trying a new dish at home or the restaurant. Wines offer individual experiences to each person and with each glass. \nThe Try Something New wine tastings are meant to compel\, excite\, and make enjoying wine easier. SUMMARY:E&J Gallo Luxury Wines Tasting with Tom
DESCRIPTION:Story has it that what was once a modest winery became a global empire known as E&J Gallo Winery.\nErnest and Julio Gallo lived long enough to see what their company E&J Gallo has become. From selling cases of their eponymously named wines to some of the most recognizable names in the wine industry. It’s difficult to say that their wines aren’t for you because their reach is extensive. From Australia to New Zealand to Italy and back to the states the wines are only bound by the imagination. Looking for something light and exciting? They have it. How about a rich red with layers of flavor? Better yet\, a highly acclaimed Italian winery? Three of them if not more. \nE&J Gallo wanted to be more than just another large wine company\, they wanted to be standard bearers. Having wine wasn’t enough\, they wanted the best wines. Sure\, Livingston may not have been featured at your last wine dinner. But the 2013 Louis Martini Lot 1 might one day. However\, none of this matters if you don’t like the wine which is why Tom will be stopping by. Tom is the Luxury Wines Specialist for the Gallo wines. His knowledge and appreciation for wines are more than label deep. He loves to teach so take advantage of this opportunity. \nCheers! \nLooking for a great Cabernet Sauvignon that is sure to please?\nLouis Martini Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County

SUMMARY:Wente Vineyards the Chardonnay Specialist
DESCRIPTION:Wente Vineyards has a history of winemaking as prestigious as the California winemaking industry.\nOne of the first wineries established\, Wente Vineyards cut its teeth early on in more ways than one. However\, what truly put Wente on the map was the creation of the Wente clone Chardonnay. \nOne of the greatest untold tidbits of information is that not all Chardonnays are the same. It is clear to most that the winemaker and region makes a difference\, but how many know about clonal variation. From 667 to Wente\, the different clones of Chardonnay impart their own nuances on the wine. The Wente family found the now eponymously named clone in France and discovered it suited the California climate. Fast forward to today and the Wente clone is responsible for 80% of the Chardonnay coming out of Cali. \nWente Vineyards specializes in Chardonnay and it is easy to see why.\nTheir wines manage to balance full tropical fruits with well-managed oak and fresh acidity the way good wine was meant to. This description also holds true for the reds. Easy drinking and meant to entice the palate and coax you into having more. But you don’t have to believe me. Just stop by and taste for yourself why Wente Vineyard is the real king of Chardonnay.

SUMMARY:Colonial Spirits' 5th Annual Summer Bash
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Colonial Spirits’ 5th Annual Summer Bash.\nThe Summer Bash is one of our favorite event of the year. Unlike our samplings and seminars\, the Summer Bash is a time for fun and festivities. It marks the beginning of summer\, the season of get-togethers and slower days. Summer may be too hot for some\, but with the right people and the right drink in your hand\, it makes for some of the best stories. The first of which is right here. \nWith a tasting lineup that is sure to chill you down\, plenty of BBQ (hot dogs and burgers)\, and a few yard games this will be our biggest event yet. Beer\, liquor\, wine\, and mixed drinks will be sampled throughout the afternoon. Take a step outside and you will find one of our very own manning the grill along with favorite yard games. Bocce anyone? We may bring back cornhole as well\, but now I’m getting ahead of myself. \nInstead of stating the reasons you should go\, I’m going to say\, “GO!” Life is about making memories\, so why not make one with us. \nThe line-up: \nTito’s Vodka — 1-4 pm \nCleveland Underground — 1-5 pm \nStirring’s Cocktail Mixers — 1-5 pm \nHouse Bear Brewing Mead — 1:30-5 pm \nJack’s Abby Craft Lagers — \nNight Shift Brewing — \nTrue North Ale Company– \n

SUMMARY:Boston Winery: Wines from the City
DESCRIPTION:Who knew Boston was a hotbed for winemaking? Someone did and they called at Boston Winery.\nLet us be honest; there aren’t any grapes being grown in Boston\, at least not like California. But the wines are being made in Boston. Californian grapes are shipped to Boston\, then they are crushed\, aged\, and bottled right here in our home state. Making wine is not that difficult\, it’s making drinkable wine that is. We have seen many “crush” wines (no vineyards or facility) in our day but few have demonstrated their capacity like the group at Boston Winery. \nFrom their own brands like ‘Without Papers’ and ‘Bread & Roses’ to the Black Dog label for none other\, the wines compete with the best. Their wines exemplify the varietals and styles appropriately and at a price\, we can all appreciate. \nBut don’t take our word. Try it for yourself. \nCheck out the Boston Winery website for more info \nClick here to check out another tasting for a local establishment: 1634 Meadery

SUMMARY:Masciarelli Wine Co. Wine Tasting w/ John Avery
DESCRIPTION:Our longest running tasting is now officially the Masciarelli Wine Co. Tasting that is hosted by John Avery.\nMasciarelli Wine Co has now been in the wine distribution industry for a little over 30 years. To say that they are new to the game or small time is not giving them enough credit. They have one of the most extensive Italian wine portfolios and their Bordeaux selections rival distributors double their size. From one of their staple brands like Trentadue Old Patch Red to more unique offerings like the Domaine Poulleau Cotes de Beaune ‘Les Mondes Rondes’ Rouge\, Masciarelli is here to find wines that overdeliver. \nJohn Avery has been with Masciarelli for at least 10 years\, and it shows. He is dedicated to the company and its brands with about just as much fervor as if it was still his first day. For John\, wine is more than the label. It is about the wine that does have a story and a sense of place. It’s about the wine’s journey from the vineyard to the bottle and not what a marketing team says you should do. And if you don’t see it\, he is here willing to show you. \nSo if you are willing to learn\, John is willing to teach. Stop by and see what wines he has lined up and hear the stories behind them.

SUMMARY:Charles River Wine Co Wine Tasting
DESCRIPTION:Charles River Wine Co is one of the distributors you never have heard of but should.\nWith a dedication to finding the unique and craft wines\, Charles River Wine Co has created their own niche in the MA wine market. Their wines truly encapture the idea of terroir and represent a family and not a company. The wines have stories and each one is more interesting than the last. \nBut hearing the story from us is not as fun as hearing it from someone at Charles River Wine Co\, which is why Kate will be stopping by to sample some of their latest finds. These wines are fun and worth taking a look at. \nSee you there. Cheers!

SUMMARY:Grand Wine Tastings: Spring 2018
DESCRIPTION:Finally in writing are our Grand Wine Tastings for 2018.\nOur seasonal Grand Wine Tastings are events that look at what we have done and have to offer. These tastings represent the wine department because the encompass the breadth of the department. Unlike the Try Something New tastings that will be taking place\, the GWT allow you to try old favorites alongside newcomers. And in a dynamic business like ours\, taking time to try wines is important. With so many to choose from\, it is nice to sample them. \nStill into oaky Chardonnay? We will have them. Never tried a Muscadet? They will be there. Want to sample an extravagant Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon? You can bet a bottle or two will be available to try. \nBut why stop there!\nWith an opportunity to try 50 or more bottles of wine\, there will be plenty to go around and choose from. The Grand Wine Tastings are our most visited events and anticipated events for a reason. We aren’t looking to push an agenda or force-feed you the latest find. No! We want our customers to sample through what we have to offer and find their favorite. Maybe you are tired of your go-to and are looking for the new table topper. This is the event for you. Maybe you want to see if there are other wines that feel familiar but offer up a unique twist. This is the event for that. \nThere are so many different wines out there. Why limit yourself. \nSo…If you are looking for a change and on a hunt\, stop by and see what will be available. \nAs always\, this event is free to the public. Bring family and friends and enjoy an afternoon of times with good wines. \nIn conjunction with the Grand Wine Tastings\, we will also be hosting our Try Something New wine tastings. To see those dates CLICK HERE. \n

SUMMARY:Vineyard Road Wine Tasting w/ Rob
DESCRIPTION:Vineyard Road Distributor may not have the long\, established history as others\, but it is paving its own path.\nVineyard Road seeks the road less taken when it comes to wines\, and this philosophy has done them well. The wineries have a legacy and the wines must have a story. Not looking to compete in the label wine segment of the industry and that is because there is nothing there to talk about. \nRob has been with Vineyard Road Dist. for some time now and has been our sales rep for the last 3 years. His charisma and style mimic VR’s philosophy and it is easy to see why he loves his job. He gets to sell wine for the love of selling and not to hit numbers. He gets to enjoy his job and not stress over it. \nSo\, to see what Vineyard Road has to offer\, stop by this evening and sample a few of our favorites with Rob.

SUMMARY:Premium European Wines Inc Wine Tasting
DESCRIPTION:Premium European Wines Inc is at it again\, and it looks like they are stronger than ever.\nPremium European Wines Inc is a locally based wine distributor that started right here in Acton\, MA. Their focus–if their name didn’t give it away–is European wines that embody their company’s philosophy. PEW believes in giving back and they do so by donating a percentage of their sales. As such\, the wineries they were after also had to give back in addition to having superb wines. And that is exactly what they found. \nFrom wineries that are sustainable to wineries that are organic and wineries that give back to their workers\, all of the wines in PEW’s portfolio have a story. All of the wines that PEW represent are family owned and operated wineries that represent wine growing regions that have a history of winemaking but without all of the glitz. Hard work and a love for winemaking are what drives these families\, not “Points of Distribution” or “Incentives”.  These are wineries that are proud of what they make and would be even prouder to drink it. \nSo support local and stop by to try what a few people from the Acton area have in store.

And they do. The white blend is the perfect summer sipper that balances fruit\, brightness\, and a hint of sweetness. The Cabernet drinks with the best of the California Cabs and is priced appropriately. \nHowever\, you can try them and decide for yourself.
So stop by and see what we will have in store for you. \nClick Here for other opportunities to learn\n

SUMMARY:Goldschmidt Vineyards Wine Tasting w/ Vic
DESCRIPTION:Goldschmidt Vineyards may not be as recognizable as other wineries from Napa\, but their impact is almost as great.\nGoldschmidt Vineyards has a long history of providing top-notch fruit for some of the most revered wineries in Napa Valley. After years of farming and seeing their neighbors reap the benefits\, they decided to create their own label. That is when GV was born. Fast forward a few years into the present\, and Goldschmidt has outgrown Napa Valley. With so many unused vineyards showing so much untapped potential\, Nick and Yolyn decided to expand. Now with a cornucopia of different labels under their guidance\, GV has become a household name. \nThe GV wines are made for the people and that is evident in every bottle. Rich reds\, flavorful whites\, and long\, lush finishes are the hallmarks of most of their wines. Easy drinking whether you want them with food or as standalone sippers. \nTo present a handful of their wines this evening is Vic\, founder of Vic Zelinsky Assoc.\nOne of the more distinguished wine importers in Mass\, Vic has made a name for himself with brands like Clos du Bois\, Catena\, Crios and now Goldschmidt Vineyards. So we can say that he knows his way around wine. Also\, outside of the winemakers who better to present the GV wines than the man who brought them to our attention. \nSo if you like good wines and plenty of information about them\, stop by as Vic is your source for both. And we are fortunate enough to host him for the evening.

SUMMARY:Gemma di Luna Pinot Grigio Wine Tasting
DESCRIPTION:Gemma di Luna Pinot Grigio may just be the jewel of the moon.\nThe newest release by Enovations Brands\, Gemma di Luna Pinot Grigio brings back the fun. A once prized varietal\, Pinot Grigio has seen better says. With too many labels and too many wineries fighting their way to the bottom\, GdL is a breath of fresh air. Elegant and well balanced\, the GdL has notes of white peach with hints of lime zest. A far cry from the apricot flavor that has become the modern normal for Pinot Grigio. \nIn addition to quality fruit\, GdL Pinot Grigio also comes in a eye-catching packaging. Whether you want to believe it or not\, the packaging can tell a lot about the wine inside. But you don’t have to take our word for it. Come and see for yourself.

SUMMARY:The Federalist Wines: Patriotism in a Glass
DESCRIPTION:If patriotism doesn’t run in your veins now\, it will once you try the Federalist Wines.\nFederalist Wines is brought to you by none other than the Terlato family. Haven’t heard of Terlato? They are the family responsible for bringing us Santa Margherita back in the 80’s. Since then\, Terlato has added to their portfolio M. Chapoutier\, Two Hands\, and\, now\, Federalist. \nThe wines by Federalist are a nod to old California. Ripe wines with robust flavors that are easy drinking and wallet-friendly. What more could anyone ask for? \nIf you haven’t tried them\, this is the opportunity to do so.

SUMMARY:A Night of German Wines to Remember
DESCRIPTION:The Germans are coming and they bring gifts of German Wines.\nFrom the steep hills of the Mosel to the volcanic deposits of the Nahe\, German wines are diverse. Riesling may be the preferred varietal but it doesn’t stop there. Gewurztraminer\, Pinot Gris and Blanc\, Spatburgunder (Pinot Noir)\, and Sylvaner are also held in high marks. Each one of these wine regions has its own twist on how these varietals are presented. Spicy\, floral\, sweet\, dense\, light\, and viscus are some of the adjectives to describe the nuances of these wines. But it doesn’t stop there. \nTo present the ever interesting and exciting wines from Germany we will be hosting some of our favorite wineries and winemakers. \nMosel — Thanks to Thomas Jefferson\, Mosel is the German wine region to be.\nBollig-Lehnert — With wines that some would call dense\, Bollig-Lehnert straddles the line of purity and indulgence. Regardless\, these wines stand out. \nC. Von Nell-Breuning — Class best describes the wines from C. Von Nell-Breuning. There is an air of finesse to these wines that give them the upper hand when it comes to producing top-notch wines. \nNahe — A smaller region that is known for the spice character that is almost instinctual in its wines.\nPaul Anheuser — One of our more established and regular offerings. Paul Anheuser wines is a beautiful example of how keeping things simple can have astonishing outcomes. \nRheinhessen — Once known for Liebfraumilch\, the Rheinhessen has come a long way to re-establishing itself as one of Germany top wine producing region.\nGeorg Albrecht Schneider — With over 200 years of experience\, G.A. Schneider is a leader in its category. Clean and precise wines that win you over with their clarity and freshness. \nEach one of these producers is unique and each one of their wines as unique. Each producer understands the German wine market and its followers and knows that making the best wines they can is what will set them apart. But you don’t have to take my word for it.

SUMMARY:Wagner Family of Wine Tasting: Caymus\, Mer Soleil\, Emmolo\, and more
DESCRIPTION:Wagner Family of Wines: The family that brings names like Caymus\, Emmolo\, and Mer Soleil to the table.\nThis is a treat because it has been a long time since we have opened a bottle of Caymus. Truth be told\, Caymus no longer needs the help selling as it is one of the most revered producers. However\, did you know that the Wagner family also produced Emmolo and Mer Soleil? That is correct. A family that is synonymous with Cabernet Sauvignon also produces Chardonnay\, Merlot\, Sauvignon Blanc\, and blends. Best of all\, their other wines don’t come second to Caymus. \nWe are fortunate to have made the connection with Chris Morris\, Wagner regional rep\, via Ken Hoggins and even more fortunate that Chris is willing to take some time out of his day to pour some of their outstanding wines. \nThis couldn’t have happened without Ken’s Wine Guide.\nNow a familiar face\, Ken Hoggins\, founder of Kenswineguide.com\, is a local wine reviewer that has made connections over the years and helped us make this one. Additionally\, his palate has tried it all. Fortunate enough to review wines some of us only dream of enjoying\, Ken has the experience and expertise to pick out the winners. Case in point\, this event’s lineup. Take a look. \nThe lineup.\n \nCaymus Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2015:\n“Caymus has a signature style that is dark in color\, with rich fruit and ripe\, velvety tannins – as approachable in youth as in maturity. We farm Cabernet grapes in eight of Napa’s 16 sub-appellations\, with diversification enabling us to make the best possible wine in a given year. Our Cabernet offers layered\, lush aromas and flavors\, including cocoa\, cassis and ripe dark berries.” -WagnerFamilyofWines.com \n \nEmmolo Merlot Napa Valley 2015:\n“This Merlot from Emmolo is terrific follow up to the 2014. The 2015 is dark red colored and slightly opaque. It opens with a ripe black cherry bouquet with notes of black raspberry. On the palate\, this wine is full-bodied\, balanced and juicy. The flavor profile is a tasty black cherry with notes of oak. I also detected hints of minerality and blackcurrant. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate tannins sail away nicely. This is a very good wine and would be a perfect match with a filet mignon at your favorite steakhouse. Enjoy – 92 Points” – Ken (KensWineGuide.com) \n \nMer Soleil Reserve Chardonnay Santa Lucia Highlands 2015:\n“The dramatic climate of the Highlands – located within Monterey County – allows us to create dramatic wines. Morning fog\, bright sunshine and gusting winds enable longer “hang time” for the grapes\, resulting in wines of intense\, complex character. With fresh\, bright aromas and the taste of white peach\, this wine has a vibrant acidity balanced by the lush flavors of fully ripe fruit.” -WagnerFamilyofWine.com \n \nEmmolo Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley 2016:\n“Inspired by the idea that less is more\, this wine is more minerality-driven than fruit-driven. Not grassy or overly ripe\, it features delicate fruit flavors and steely\, mineral notes that call to mind a first summer rain. Our grapes come from two family vineyards\, and we harvest the fruit at just the right moment to achieve a balance of firm acidity and low alcohol.” -WagnerFamilyofWine.com \n \nConundrum Red Blend California 2015:\n“Sourced from premier California winegrowing regions\, Conundrum Red features dark red varietals including Zinfandel and Petite Sirah. It is rich\, complex and approachable. With lush flavors of cherries and baking chocolate\, this wine has fine tannins that create a silky smoothness. Be daring and drink Conundrum Red chilled to enhance its fruit profile and enjoy it any time of year.” -WagnerFamilyofWine.com

SUMMARY:Baystate Wine Tasting w/ Jake
DESCRIPTION:Come one\, come all. Baystate Wines is a distributor that is going to put up a fight.\nIn a well-established wine state\, it can be difficult being one of the smaller and newer guys on the block. That hasn’t deterred Baystate\, as they have found their stride by bringing us brands we can’t live without. Sean Minor\, Plungerhead\, and Line 39 are three of their top-sellers of a list of many recognizable brands. \nTo get better acquainted with their brands\, Jake carved out some time to stop by and sample some of Baystate’s offerings. Whether it is Line 39 or a newer brand like Dürnberg\, you will find something you like.
