DESCRIPTION:Considered to be one of the “smaller” distributors in MA\, Monsieur Touton is anything but. While many distributors look at creating long-term deals to get good pricing\, Touton purchases whole lots to get the best pricing. This allows the winery/brand to open up space in the warehouse and work on new things. This also gives Touton the upper hand because very few people can beat their prices. Heidsieck Monopole Champagne\, Agua de Piedra Malbec\, and Tomaiolo are a few of their well-known  labels. That being said\, they are constantly updating their portfolio by adding new things. This makes it hard to keep track of. Which is why Joe will be stopping by\, to help us all get better acquainted. This is an opportunity to try some of our newest acquisitions from Touton with one of its top men.

DESCRIPTION:Do a Google search on the Loire Valley and\, regardless of the main topic\, you’re likely to find that the most common term used to describe the region is “diversity.” From the river’s source in the central mountainous Massif Centrale\, to its mouth at the Bay of Biscay some 620 miles to the west\, the region is rich in biological\, environmental\, architectural\, agricultural and historical abundance\, making the Loire Valley one of the most popular regional tourist destinations in France.  \nThat being the case\, it should come as no surprise that\, of all of the country’s viticultural regions\, the Loire produces the greatest diversity of white\, red and pink sparkling and still wine styles. Interestingly\, the region’s winemakers\, who represent the Loire’s five major sub-regions and more that 60 AOCs\, manage to do so with a relatively small selection of both white and red grapes; primarily Sauvignon Blanc\, Chenin Blanc\, Melon de Bourgogne\, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc. What makes such variation possible is the diversity of the region’s climatic conditions\, soils\, topographies and other natural conditions.  \nTo learn more about what makes Loire Valley wines so diverse\, the Colonial Spirits wine team invites you to try a few representative samples at a free tasting this coming Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. DESCRIPTION:A tremendously diverse grape\, Chardonnay has the remarkable ability to mirror the conditions in which it is grown. At the same time\, it is malleable enough to bend to choices made by winemakers. Fermented and aged in American Oak\, it delivers aromas of ripe tropical fruit followed by rich full-bodied vanilla and buttery flavors. Grown in cool climates and fermented in concrete or stainless steel vats\, it becomes dry and zesty\, a perfect accompaniment for a wide variety of foods.  \nGiven these and other attributes\, it is small wonder that Chardonnay is the world’s most popular and widely grown white grape. However\, there was a time not that long ago that a number of wine enthusiasts and producer revolted against what was perceived as the oaky\, fruity\, high alcohol sameness of Chardonnay. With the rallying cry of “anything but Chardonnay” (ABC)\, these individuals began to eschew oak and\, in many cases\, leave Chardonnay altogether in search of other\, less ubiquitous grapes such as Sauvignon Blanc\, Viognier\, and Pinot Gris\, among others. Fortunately for everyone\, the more strident elements of the ABC movement began to mellow while many adherents of the oaky Chardonnay style eased up in pursuit of balance.  \nTo celebrate this return to peaceful coexistence\, the Colonial Spirits wine team has organized a combined sale and tasting of domestic ABC wines\, leaving out Chardonnays not out of disrespect\, but rather in recognition of what the wine industry can accomplish when it branches out. That being the case\, we are offering 20% off on all domestic whites\, except Chardonnay\, this coming weekend. We will also conduct a tasting of a number of non-chards Sunday from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. We started this series of sale and tasting events with the goal of providing customers the opportunity to sample from the great diversity of wines from around the world. In our tasting sessions\, we have covered a number of different wine styles and grape varieties\, and discussed the importance of climate\, soil\, and other natural conditions produce noticeably different flavor profiles of the Chardonnays\, Cabernets\, Pinot Noirs and other popular grape varieties from well-known Old and New World regions.  \nThis coming weekend\, we are taking a slightly different tack by featuring wines from places that many wine consumers probably know little about – Austria\, Luxembourg\, and the Savoy and Bugey regions in France. SUMMARY:Semi-Grand Rosé Wine Tasting
DESCRIPTION:This is the first of our newest addition to our tasting lineup: Semi-Grand Rosé Wine Tasting. Unlike our Grand Tastings that are featured over two consecutive weekends and showcase around 50 bottles of wines each weekend. Our Semi-Grand Tastings will take place on one day\, will focus on a style that tends to get overlooked for some reason\, and will feature anywhere from 25-50 bottles of wine depending on the style. This is a great opportunity to learn more about you have either never tried or already love. \nOur first Semi-Grand Tasting will focus on Rosé wines. With its popularity increasing year after year\, rosé wines are here to stay indefinitely and boy are we happier for it. The biggest downside\, up to this point\, was that there seems to be an endless sea of rosé and far too few people pouring them. Yes\, we did indeed cover a few at our Spring Grand Tasting\, but the 15+ we covered is nothing compared to the 100+ we will be getting throughout the season and year. With an infinite number of varieties from which rosé can be made from which cover everything from clawingly sweet to bone dry\, what better way to choose your next bottle than by sampling it for yourself. So\, if you happen to have an hour or two open on Saturday\, May 21 from 2-5 PM and would like to sample a few rosés stop by our shop and see what we will have open. \nLike our Grand Tastings\, we will be offering 25% off a mixed 12 bottle case of the wines being sampled at our Rosé Wine Tasting. \nCarpe Vinum!

John is both a Portfolio Manager and Sales Rep for Masciarelli Wine Co. so you can say he knows a thing or two about wine. But\, unlike many wine experts\, John doesn’t throw his knowledge around as a way of intimidating you. Instead\, he consoles you and guides you through his wines in a manner that allows you to grasp and understand what tastes you are trying. DESCRIPTION:I recently tried these wines and all I can say is\, “WOW!” These wines are nothing to skip over\, which would be very difficult considering their labels. That aside\, these wines are serious. Each one of these wines is made with the utmost care and dedication and with food in mind. These wines stand well on their own but truly shine with food\, especially with the lively acidity that seems to be the finishing touch on most of these. These wines are worth more than a shot and should be enjoyed with dinner or at your next gathering. So if you are looking for a Chardonnay\, Cabernet Sauvignon\, Zinfandel or Red Blend\, Force of Nature has it and you should try it. \nCarpe Vinum!
