SUMMARY:E&J Gallo Wines Tasting: La Marca and Louis Martini
DESCRIPTION:Stories have it that what was once a modest winery became a global empire known as E&J Gallo Wines.\nErnest and Julio Gallo lived long enough to see what their company E&J Gallo Wines has become. From selling cases of their eponymously named wines to some of the most recognizable names in the wine industry. It’s difficult to say that their wines aren’t for you because their reach is extensive. From Australia to New Zealand to Italy and back to the states the wines are only bound by the imagination. Looking for something light and exciting? They have it. How about a rich red with layers of flavor? Better yet\, a highly acclaimed Italian winery? Three of them if not more. \nE&J Gallo wanted to be more than just another large wine company\, they wanted to be standard bearers. Having wine wasn’t enough\, they wanted the best wines. Sure\, Livingston may not have been featured at your last wine dinner. But the 2013 Louis Martini Lot 1 might one day. However\, none of this matters if you don’t like the wine which is why we will be sampling a couple. \nLa Marca a.k.a the ‘Tiffany Blue’ Prosecco is making waves in the Prosecco market. Its catchy label and easy-drinking bubbles make it an easy choice to make. \nLouis Martini might as well be synonymous with Cabernet Sauvignon. One of the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon-focused winery in California that doesn’t seem to be slowing down. \nCheers! \nLooking for a great Cabernet Sauvignon that is sure to please?\nLouis Martini Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County

SUMMARY:Thanksgiving Dinner and Wine Pairing with Sue
DESCRIPTION:The most anticipated get together of the year is Thanksgiving Dinner.\nAt least it is in our household. Family\, friends\, and good food set the mood for the day and nothing is better. That being said\, Thanksgiving dinner can be a burden to the hosting family. Long days of prep\, an early start the day off\, and clean up like you wouldn’t believe.  Sometimes motivation is the issue as the stress of Thanksgiving can mount up quickly. \nThat is why we are inviting you to our Annual Thanksgiving Dinner with Sue. Sue brings out all of the stops and there is nothing better than enjoying someone else’s hard work. However\, Sue does more than bring the turkey\, sweet potatoes\, and cranberry sauce. She also brings a handful of wines that pair well with Thanksgiving Dinner as it is the most common question this time of year. \nMore importantly\, Sue will have more than just Pinot Noir and Riesling.\nEven though Pinot and Riesling are some of the best wines for pairing with Thanksgiving Dinner\, there are other wines that work just as well. Sue may still have a Pinot Noir or Riesling to sample as it’s almost obligatory\, but she will also have a few other great choices that will help make Thanksgiving a little bit easier. \nWhether this is your first\, second\, or third visit I’m sure you will try something you haven’t seen paired with turkey before. \nHope to see you there.

SUMMARY:Testa Wines South American Tasting with Wendy
DESCRIPTION:Testa Wines: Bringing the highest caliber wines to your dinner table.\nTesta Wines may be less known than Diageo and Moet Hennessey\, but their impact in the wine industry resonates to this day. Having once been the importer for little brands like Veuve Clicquot\, Antinori\, and Mouton Cadet\, it is easy to see why we are excited about working with them. \nMost recently\, Testa has found their way to South America where they have discovered some gems.\nThe first is La Mision\, a project started by Domaine William Fevre. Due to the rising demand in Burgundy and lack of land\, William Fevre has decided to venture into other regions. It may not have been their 1st choice\, but Chile was where they decided to plant their vines. Using clippings from their vineyards in Burgundy\, William Fevre planted vineyards where they deemed most appropriate and started La Mision. The wines are precise\, to say the least. The white wines are reminiscent of wines from Burgundy with minerality\, acidity\, and balanced fruit flavors. The red wines resemble wines from Provence with laid-back fruit flavors and fresh acidity on the finish. \nThe second is Proemio; Argentinian wines with an Italian heritage. Like most Italians immigrants Marcelo Bocardo came from a family that emphasized eating well. Not only did this apply to food but it also applied to wine. However\, eating steak every day isn’t common so why the necessity for over-extracted wines? Marcelo went out to create wines that would pair well with common household dinners. Hence Proemio. The wines emphasize the quality of the grapes and the regions they were grown in and heighten foods versus overpowering them. \nWendy\, the local rep for Testa\, will be here to engage your palate and open your mind to these newcomers. She will be pouring the wines and educating us on why these wines are the new frontier for Soth America. \nWines being sampled:\n\nLa Mision Reserva Especial Chardonnay\nLa Mision Reserva Especial Pinot Noir\nLa Mision Reserva Especial Carmenere\nProemio Cabernet Sauvignon\nProemio Reserva Malbec\nProemio ICON

SUMMARY:Fess Parker Winery Wine Tasting at Great Road Kitchen
DESCRIPTION:We have teamed up once again with Great Road Kitchen to host a Fess Parker Winery wine tasting.\nFounded in 1988\, Fess Parker Winery was a retreat from the Hollywood life for Mr. Parker. (Some may have recognized the name but for those that didn’t\, Fess Parker was the actor that played Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone. Here is a link to a few YouTube videos: Davy Crockett & Daniel Boone). Searching for a peaceful plot of land\, Fess Parker fell in love with what is now the eponymous winery. Few bottles of wine later\, and FP Winery and its other labels are at the helm of the wine world. \nUnlike so many celebrity wines\, FP Winery is first and foremost a winery. A winery of brick and mortar that is surrounded by premier vineyard sites with a crush\, barrel\, and guest room. The winemaker may be Fess’ son Eli\, but he was the assistant winemaker to none other than Jed Steele before taking on the title of head winemaker. Eli and his team have honed on a house style; California meets Europe\, some would say. \nThe wines for the dinner haven’t picked out yet\, but as soon as they are it will be posted here. \n \nGreat wine deserves great food and few do it better than Great Road Kitchen.\nWith only a few years at The Point in Littleton\, GRK has already solidified themselves as the place to go. Focused on fresh food\, GRK sources locally when possible so that their menu is exciting and filled with flavor. The menu changes regularly and with the seasons\, and the quality of their dishes is something you can count on. \nThe menu for the dinner hasn’t been set yet\, but as soon as it is it will get posted here. \nTo RSVP reach out to Great Road Kitchen either by calling at 978.952.7333 or emailing at info@grkoysters.com \nThis will be a night of great food\, phenomenal wines\, and good times.\nMenu:

SUMMARY:Wine Dinner at The Red Raven with Lee and Ken
DESCRIPTION:We along with Ken and Lee will be hosting a wine dinner at The Red Raven.\nLast year’s wine dinner at the Red Raven was so successful that we will be going back. This time\, it will be Lee that will be joining us in place of Peter Merriam. \nLee is the New England Sales Director for Wineseller LTD\, a wine importer that focuses on small boutique and family-owned wineries that produce high-quality wines. The wineries reign from all over the globe and the overall wine portfolio is just as unique. Winesellers has the go-to favorite varietals like Chardonnay\, Cabernet Sauvignon\, and Merlot but they also have Torrontes\, Riesling (in all its forms)\, and many blends. The focus for the dinner will be mostly on the wines from Zuccardi with the one exception being a Riesling from Germany. \nHere’s the wine lineup with reviews and information: \n2016 Zuccardi Serie A Torrontes\n2014 Zuccardi “Tito”\n2013 Zuccardi “Jose Zuccardi”\n2015 Schneider Niersteiner Hipping Riesling Spatlese \nKen is the founder and main wine reviewer for Ken’s Wine Guide\, a local wine reviewing company that helps choosing wines a breeze. In addition to being a wine reviewer\, Ken has also been a long time supporter of ours.  Ken’s knows a good wine when he tries one which is why you should check out his site. \nThe Red Raven is located in the Nagog Plaza in Acton\, Ma. A gastropub\, Red Raven’s menu is focused on local and fresh. The food always over delivers and the atmosphere is casual which allows for some great times. \nSo join us for a night of great food and wines. \nTo RSVP either call the Red Raven at 978.274.2231 or email them at info@redravenacton.com\nMissed out on this dinner and would like to try to make another? SUMMARY:Thanksgiving Dinner and Wine Pairing with Sue
DESCRIPTION:The most anticipated get together of the year is Thanksgiving Dinner.\nAt least it is in our household. Family\, friends\, and good food set the mood for the day and nothing is better. That being said\, Thanksgiving dinner can be a burden to the hosting family. Long days of prep\, early start the day of and clean up like you wouldn’t believe. She also brings a handful wines that pair well with Thanksgiving Dinner as it is the most common question this time of year. \nMore importantly\, Sue will have more than just Pinot Noir and Riesling.\nEven though Pinot and Riesling are some of the best wines for pairing with Thanksgiving Dinner\, there are much more wines that work as well. Chianti\, Beaujolais\, and Rioja all work as well and usually don’t get as much attention as the other two varieties. \nWhether this is your first\, second\, or third visit I’m sure you will try something you haven’t seen paired with turkey before. \nHope to see you there. \nThe lineup: \nPaul Anheuser Scheurebe Nahe\nBeaucastel ‘Coudoulet’ Cotes du Rhone\nBucci Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi\nEinaudi Dolcetto Dogliano\nBöen Pinot Noir Russian River\nSmoke Tree Pinot Noir Sonoma County\nLaribotte Sauternes\nMAN Chenin Blanc Western Cape

SUMMARY:Montinore Estates Wine Dinner at Great Road Kitchen
DESCRIPTION:That’s right\, Wine Dinner numero 2.\nWe head into spring with one thing in mind\, change. After years of not having wine dinners and focusing on the in-store events\, we are reshifting our focus. The wine dinner that Red Raven hosted was a success. Off the heels of the Red Raven event\, we have reached out to Great Road Kitchen in Littleton to host our second wine dinner. \nA collaboration between Dendor Wine\, Montinore Estate\, Great Road Kitchen\, and Colonial Spirits of Acton and Stow\, this event will mark the beginning of Oregon Month. (What is Oregon Month? We’ll touch upon that later.) \nLike any good wine dinner\, the main focus is pairing.\nToo much or little of an ingredient and the wine will either dominate or become overwhelmed. Appropriateness and finesse are the driving forces behind a good wine dinner and few manage it as well as Great Road Kitchen. With chef Chris Frothingham at the wheel\, we knew we had ourselves a home run of an event\, especially when you see the menu he has in store. Even though the food is important\, it makes up only half of the equation. The other half… the wine. \nRudy Marchesi\, the owner of Montinore Estates\, will be gracing us with his presence and presenting his wines at this event. For those that don’t know the wines from Montinore\, the best way to describe them is elegance. The Montinore Pinot Noir has been a fixture and prominent member of our racks. Described as a nice balance between earth and fruit\, the Pinot Noir has a little bit for everyone. The whites are crisp and unpretentious and exemplify their varietals. All in all\, the Montinore wines live and breathe Oregon. What more could you ask for? \nNow to the good stuff… The Dinner\nChef Frothingham has been kind enough to put together the menu for the evening: \n1st Course: Spicy Tuna Tartar with Montinore ‘Almost Dry’ Riesling 2014 \n2nd Course: Oysters ‘Three Ways’ with Montinore Gewürztraminer 2014 \n3rd Course: ‘Family Style’ Paella with Montinore ‘Borealis’ White 2015 \n4th Course: Wild Mushroom Tortelli with Montinore Pinot Noir ‘Red Cap’ 2015 \n5th Course: Slow Roasted Tenderloin with Montinore Pinot Noir Reserve 2014 \nFinal: Berry Crisp\, Sabayon with Montinore Pinot Gris 2015 \nThe cost per ticket for the evening is $88 (does not include tax or gratuity). What it does cover is 6 courses with 6 different wines and good times. \nIf you would like to reserve a seat either call GRK: 978.952.7333 or email info@GRKOysters.com \n

SUMMARY:Palm Bay International Wine Tasting
DESCRIPTION:Who is Palm Bay International?\nNone other than the people that bring you familiar names like Cavit\, Roscato\, and Santa Rita. Those brands\, however\, are just a snippet of their much larger and more interesting portfolio that also includes Au Contraire\, Bertani\, The Irishman\, and Jose Maria da Fonseca. PBI has been a household name in the wine industry for years and one that you take notice of when they add a new product to their portfolio. Their wines have pedigree and regularly find themselves in “Top” lists from different publications. PBI wines are a book onto themselves and are worth learning about. What better time to learn about them than the day before Easter? None. The wines we picked out for your enjoyment would all pair well with your wallet and Easter dinner. \nSo if you are looking for some good wines to try from a well-regarded importer\, your desires have been fulfilled.\nCheers!

SUMMARY:Force of Nature Wines w/ Vic
DESCRIPTION:I recently tried these wines and all I can say is\, “WOW!” These wines are nothing to skip over\, which would be very difficult considering their labels. That aside\, these wines are serious. Each one of these wines is made with the utmost care and dedication and with food in mind. These wines stand well on their own but truly shine with food\, especially with the lively acidity that seems to be the finishing touch on most of these. These wines are worth more than a shot and should be enjoyed with dinner or at your next gathering. So if you are looking for a Chardonnay\, Cabernet Sauvignon\, Zinfandel or Red Blend\, Force of Nature has it and you should try it. \nCarpe Vinum!

SUMMARY:Meet the Winemaker: Giorgio Flessati from Falernia
DESCRIPTION:We have been preaching about the wines from Falernia out of Elqui Valley\, Chile for the past year. Some of you have gotten on board\, thank you. But\, some of you still haven’t. I know\, blindly trying something is not the easiest choice to make especially if you are talking about a bottle of wine that can cost anywhere from $13-$25 if not your dinner (assuming someone made a bad wine pairing recommendation). However\, for those that still haven’t boarded the Falernia train and are looking for that extra push in the right direction here is your opportunity. On Saturday\, February 13th (Could this have been better planned?) from 1-4 PM we will be hosting Giorgio Flessati\, winemaker for Falernia. I was fortunate enough to have met Giorgio back in mid-2015\, and all I can say is that everyone is in for a real treat. Giorgio will be pouring his wines this fine afternoon for anyone and everyone that either made plans to stop by or just happened to stop by. Regardless\, if you happen to have a couple of minutes off and would like to meet an excellent and exciting winemaker this is an event not to be missed. Hope to see you there! \nCarpe Vinum!

SUMMARY:Annual Thanksgiving Dinner and Wine Tasting w/ Sue
DESCRIPTION:This has become one of the most talked about wine tasting events we have\, and one of the most fun to put together. It isn’t because we make it easy to pick out wines to pair with Thanksgiving dinner\, or because they will be available at a great price\, no. It is because of Sue. Although tasting good wines is fun\, Sue has a personality that is contagious and brings people back. Another reason why you shouldn’t miss this event is that Sue brings in a full-fledged Thanksgiving Dinner. From mashed potatoes to turkey\, Sue has the whole spread available for nibbling while tasting wines that flourish in the setting. If you are looking for a little Thanksgiving inspiration than our shop is the place for you. Hope to see everyone there. \nCarpe Vinum!

SUMMARY:Finca Hispana Wine Tasting
DESCRIPTION:Finca Hispana is a cooperative\, but unlike most\, its main priority is to glorify Spanish wines by producing high-quality wines. One would think that quality is directly related to cost\, but in this case it’s not. The wines from Finca Hispana\, at least those being tasted this weekend\, are all less than $15 per bottle but deliver as if they were $20+. How is this possible? I wish I had the answer\, but Peter Deutsch\, the man behind the brand\, does. Peter will be here this afternoon to taste through some of his wines and open our minds to the world of wonder that is Spanish wines. This is a great event to not only broaden your horizon\, if you aren’t familiar with wine from Spain\, but also to stock up on some great wines. Think stocking stuffer\, at the dinner table\, or party as their are few wines as good for as little dough. \nCarpe Vinum!

SUMMARY:Thanksgiving Dinner w/ Sue
DESCRIPTION:The Thanksgiving tasting has become an annual event for us and we are proud of it. It all started as an idea to pair Thanksgiving dinner with wine\, a rather simple idea but one that rarely comes to fruition. This tasting has grown over the years and I am happy to say that we have customers asking about it during the summer. Sue is a great host that knows her wines and loves to teach others about the wines she’s represents. This is one of the most talked about tastings of the year and it is easy to see why. Stop by and have a piece of turkey with gravy paired with a classic Albarino\, a new world pinot gris and maybe a wine completely off the beaten path\, nonetheless you will have a great time. \n  \nCarpe Vinum! \n  \nThe wines being poured: \nPaco & Lola Albarino \nBatasiolo Moscato d’Asti \nDr. Heyden Riesling Spatlese Oppenheimer Sacktraeger \nFalernia Syrah \nLouis Bernard Cotes du Rhone Villages \nMohua Sauv Blanc \nMontinore Pinot Noir \nWe will be offering a complimentary 20% off all wines being poured at this tasting. \n  \n
