DESCRIPTION:Hailing from Everett\, we have been carrying Down the Road since they first started brewing beer.  Over the last few years\, these guys have kept on chugging along and producing ales and lagers that have earned a good amount of buzz in this beer world of ours.  It has been a while since we have had them come in to pour their offerings so we’re gunna change that.  Mike from Down the Road will be here tasting beers like Seventh Star IPA\, Pukwudgie Pale Ale\, Springheel Jack London Porter\, and their Cherry Feyborn Berliner Weisse.  THis is a brewery that is gathering a dedicated following and significant buzz in Massachusetts\, which isn’t always easy in this market overflowing with great sudz.

DESCRIPTION:Night Shift has been making some of the best beer in the state for a while now\, but they were always just out of reach of our shelves.  Then\, just before Christmas\, that all changed.  Since bringing them in to the store\, we have had over 10 different beers from them.  And you\, the consumer\, have been enjoying it.  We run through dozens of cases a week and they just keep sending us fresh\, hop forward cans as well as funky and sour bottles. \nIt took a little bit\, but we are finally having the Everett brewers in for a tasting.  If you have never tried Night Shift\, come down.  We know our beer and are constantly exploring what is out there\, so please trust me when I say that they are one of the top breweries in Massachusetts.  Their offerings change from week to week\, depending on what they have just brewed\, but know that what we are pouring will be fresh\, flavorful\, and well made.

DESCRIPTION:In preparation for the Hallmark holiday\, we’re having a tasting with some beers that share the flavors of the usual Valentine’s day gifts.  Lindeman’s makes some of the best fruit added sour/funky beers and has for centuries.  We will have two of their berry varients\, Kriek and Framboise.  To go with the berries\, we’ll have Samuel Smith’s Organic Chocolate stout.  This stout has a Tootsie Roll style chocolate flavor that pairs well with deserts as well as fresh fruit.  Come try them all along side of tasty food pairings to see if this is what your Valentine would like.

DESCRIPTION:Stony Creek hasn’t even been in Massachusetts for a full year and they are already popping up everywhere.  Beautiful logos\, interesting styles and a strong command of hops\, these Connecticut brewers are not trying to fly away anytime soon.  Just in time for our tasting\, they have just released Stony Joe\, a golden mocha stout.  Golden stouts are going to start popping up more and more.  They are just what they sound like\, a stout that pours golden yellow.  It’s a style I am still figuring out\, so get in on the early days to say you’ve had one.   On top of Stony Joe\, we’ll be tasting the Crankys in varying sizes.

DESCRIPTION:Sunday is the Superbowl and our Patriots are on the march for another trophy and set of rings.  And with football comes a few tasty drinks.  And no Sunday necessitates fine libations more than the Superbowl.  We have some great beer sales going on right now in honor of the games which you should come and check out\, but while you are here on Sunday we will also have the knowledgeable Ken Zuckerman here to pour out some of the most unique ciders in the store. \nSpain has two regions for cider\, Asturias and Basque\, both in the north.  While Basque sidras  have a good name in the United States\, Asturias produces the bulk of the countries sidras.  Ken will be pairing select sidras from Asturias with some delicious artisan chocolates.  He will be pouring two sparkling sidras\, Riesta Guzman and Angelon.  You might remeber these from when he did a tasting last time.  While made of apples\, these can easily replace any sparkling wine.  Diamantes de Hielo by Grusifas is ice cider with a deep amber color.  A great desert drink.  Finally we will do a fan favor Sidra de Pera from Angelon. \n

SUMMARY:One Earth Fundraising at Gallery 529
DESCRIPTION:“Whoever tends a fig tree will eat its fruit.”\nGallery 529 of Littleton\, in conjunction with the Gallery Café\, is pleased to announce a new juried art show and fundraising effort to benefit Loaves and Fishes of Ayer. Based on the proverb\, “He who tends a fig tree shall eat its fruit” the  Gallery Café and Gallery 529 are planning a two week focus on ways we can all work to save our planet\, so it can continue to provide for all of us. \nThe two-week event starts on Saturday\,  January 14th\, from 7 to 9 pm.  Food will be provided by the Gallery Café.\nColonial Spirits of Acton assisted by Sue Nordberg will be hosting a wine tasting promoting organic wines. There will be live music\, crafts to make\, and delicious food\, all to benefit a worthy local cause. \nAccording to Gallery and Café owner Virginia Wood\, “Lately\, I have been feeling like I need to do more to help protect the environment. This event is the beginning of a series of events to focus on critical issues which will culminate with a call to action delineating a series of simple tasks folks can do to help. I just don’t think we can sit back any longer…too much is at stake. The old adage\, ‘Think Globally and Act Locally’ will be our focus of 2017\, and we hope the greater community will join us.” \nThe artists of Gallery 529\, of whom there are 30 member artists\, are also supporting the theme by creating artwork from recycled or up-cycled materials. Nancy Burke\, a glass artist from Marlboro\, makes beautiful cheese boards from recycled melted wine and champagne bottles. Jewelry artist Diane Delgado from Carlisle\, MA.\, will be highlighting her etched copper jewelry made from upcycled copper flashing. Townsend artist Nancy French makes warm boiled wool mittens from up-cycled sweaters. Local artists are also encouraged to get involved in the juried art show\, which will run for the last two weeks of January. There will be no entry fees to encourage more folks to enter and support the good work of Loaves and Fishes. \nThe Gallery Café\, during the two weeks of the event\, will be donating 10% of its food sales to Loaves and Fishes.
