DESCRIPTION:What is Languedoc? \nLanguedoc-Roussillon is located in southern France\, spanning the Mediterranean coastline from the French border with Spain in the south\, to the region of Provence to the east. It is the largest wine producing region and vineyard area not only in France\, but also in the world. The region is home to several climate and soil types which factor into the wide variety of wines produced here. \n\nThe wines of Languedoc offer an exceptional selection of quality\, value and character\, reflecting the elements from which they come. The wines are blessed by an auspicious blend of natural factors\, such as abundant sunshine\, the Mediterranean Sea\, mountains\, as well as history and culture and a revolutionary spirit. These are some of the most authentic wines in France\, and today’s pioneering winemakers are combining time honored traditions with new techniques to revitalize the region’s appellations. Consumers can feel confident with their purchases and afford to discover all that Languedoc has to offer. \nThe majority of the region has a Mediterranean climate and clay/limestone soils. However\, there are pockets with more continental and Atlantic influences as well as schist and granite soils. The region is also characterized by low rainfall levels; some areas see the lowest rainfall in France. SUMMARY:Single Malt Plurality
DESCRIPTION:If you have ever wondered what the difference between all of those bottles of single malt scotch is now is the time to find out.  Single malt scotch may be from Scotland and made with malted barley\, but the similarities don’t go much further.  Each distillery imparts their own distinctive flavor to the malt.  From the way that the barley is malted to the shape of the still to the barrel it is aged in there are dozens of factors influencing the flavor. \nThis tasting event focuses on the breadth of flavor available throughout the world of single malt.  We will be presenting a range of whisky that demonstrates just how wide the spectrum is.  The extra mature range of Glenmorangie features finishing casks of sherry\, port and sauternes.  Ardbeg brings big smoke and peat.  Talisker shows milder peat and the brine of the sea.  Dalwinnie presents a different type of smoke\, from charcoal\, and mountain purity.  Glenkinchie exhibits the light\, crisp and clean malt of the lowlands. \nThe broad range of flavors and malt profiles presented at this tasting is a fine opportunity to learn about scotch whisky and what it is that you like about single malts.  Two industry professionals / whisky enthusiasts will be hosting / pouring and sharing their experience.

DESCRIPTION:Made in Ipswich\, MA at a small\, craft distillery Privateer is what rum should be.  The silver rum bears no resemblance to the harsh\, phenol flavor of many others.  It is smooth and mixable while showing the true potential of fine rum… Lightly floral with notes of sweet basil\, anise\, cotton candy\, and a hint of butterscotch culminating in a silky finish.\nTheir Amber rum bucks the trend of over-sweet\, spiciness showing rich flavor and complexity similar to fine Bourbon Whiskey.  This rum is exceptionally smooth and round with waves of orange citrus\, sandalwood\, leather\, cinnamon and spice\, and a lingering and silky finish.
