SUMMARY:La Mision Wine Tasting and Bottle Signing
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we welcome winemaker for La Mision\, Cristian Aliaga.\nLa Mision is the brainchild of Domaine William Fevre. Some of you may know the Domaine as it is possibly one of the most recognizable Burgundy wineries. Others may not have heard of them because the winery is based out of Chablis. Taking into account that the climate is changing\, William Fevre set off to look for opportunities in winemaking outside of France. Chile was almost too obvious of a choice. Bent on trying something different\, Fevre went on a search for vineyard sites that were on hillsides. At that time\, the rest of Chile was focused on valley fruit as it offered a tempered climate that was suitable enough for winemaking. Fevre didn’t want suitable enough\, he wanted the PERFECT spot. \nHence the name\, La Mision (the mission in English).\nLa Mision is the age-old idea that terroir matters. An ideology Burgundians don’t take lightly. It was in San Juan that Fevre and his team found the perfect spot. Unluckily\, the vineyard already had an owner. Luckily\, the owner was willing to partner up with Domaine Fevre. Several vintages later here we are talking about the wines and their story. \nThis is not an everyday event and if you can make it\, you should. Unlike trade events where I or others that are equally knowledgeable or more so\, this is an opportunity to hear it from the source. The person who puts a personal touch on the bottles that we see before us. They walk the vineyards\, the taste the grapes\, the sample the wines in the barrel. This is the side of the story you want to hear. \nIf you can make time\, you should make it in. \nHere is a little about Cristian:\n“Winemaker Cristián studied Oenology at Universidad de Chile. He made his first harvests at Errázuriz in Aconcagua Valley. Then he worked for 12 years at Veramonte\, in Casablanca Valley\, becoming Chief Winemaker. During that period he made harvests in other wineries such as Kendall-Jackson\, Paul Hobbs\, Saintsbury and Quintessa in California\, Villa María in New Zealand and Chateau Dillon in Bordeaux\, France. Then he returned to Chile to work in William Fèvre\, looking for new challenges in the new Chilean terroirs.

SUMMARY:E&J Gallo Wines Tasting: La Marca and Louis Martini
DESCRIPTION:Stories have it that what was once a modest winery became a global empire known as E&J Gallo Wines.\nErnest and Julio Gallo lived long enough to see what their company E&J Gallo Wines has become. From selling cases of their eponymously named wines to some of the most recognizable names in the wine industry. It’s difficult to say that their wines aren’t for you because their reach is extensive. From Australia to New Zealand to Italy and back to the states the wines are only bound by the imagination. Looking for something light and exciting? They have it. How about a rich red with layers of flavor? Better yet\, a highly acclaimed Italian winery? Three of them if not more. \nE&J Gallo wanted to be more than just another large wine company\, they wanted to be standard bearers. Having wine wasn’t enough\, they wanted the best wines. Sure\, Livingston may not have been featured at your last wine dinner. But the 2013 Louis Martini Lot 1 might one day. However\, none of this matters if you don’t like the wine which is why we will be sampling a couple. \nLa Marca a.k.a the ‘Tiffany Blue’ Prosecco is making waves in the Prosecco market. Its catchy label and easy-drinking bubbles make it an easy choice to make. \nLouis Martini might as well be synonymous with Cabernet Sauvignon. One of the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon-focused winery in California that doesn’t seem to be slowing down. \nCheers! \nLooking for a great Cabernet Sauvignon that is sure to please?\nLouis Martini Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County

SUMMARY:Try Something New Wine Tasting Series
DESCRIPTION:From Ancient Lakes to Mudgee: Try Something New Wine Tasting Series. Because wine is fun.\nWine is fun; what a concept. And what better way to enjoy and see the beauty of wine than with a wine tasting? Sampling wines is a staple for most wine shops. They allow buyers to decide if a particular bottle is a fit for the store. Or they give you\, the customer\, the opportunity to try it before buying it. Not every wine is for everyone and finding the right one can sometimes be difficult. \nWine Enthusiasts have been alienated by the wine industry. Partly because of the sheer number of wines there are\, and partly because describing wines can be overwhelming. \n“Flower petals atop oak shavings with blackberry undertones.” Did you not get the same notes? \nAlthough the industry tries desperately to make wine easy\, at times it feels like they are making things harder. We know that describing wines is not everyone’s forté\, and that wine is personal\, which is why we are bringing them to you. \nWine should be something we are all comfortable with. Like bread\, fruits\, and the other foods we eat.\nWine is a consumable which is why enjoying it is more important than describing it. And why trying it is the best way of knowing. Which is why for 2018 we will be introducing the Try Something New wine tasting series. The idea is to bring to the table wines that are new and unique. We are going to bring FUN back to wine by reminding everyone that wine is first meant to be a learning experience. Like trying a new dish at home or the restaurant. Wines offer individual experiences to each person and with each glass. \nThe Try Something New wine tastings are meant to compel\, excite\, and make enjoying wine easier. So stop by and see what we will have in store for you. \nClick Here for other opportunities to learn\n

You can bet a bottle or two will be available to try. \nBut why stop there!\nWith an opportunity to try 50 or more bottles of wine\, there will be plenty to go around and choose from. The Grand Wine Tastings are our most visited events and anticipated events for a reason. We aren’t looking to push an agenda or force-feed you the latest find. No! We want our customers to sample through what we have to offer and find their favorite. Maybe you are tired of your go-to and are looking for the new table topper. This is the event for you. Maybe you want to see if there are other wines that feel familiar but offer up a unique twist. This is the event for that. \nThere are so many different wines out there. Why limit yourself. \nSo…If you are looking for a change and on a hunt\, stop by and see what will be available. \nAs always\, this event is free to the public. Bring family and friends and enjoy an afternoon of times with good wines. \nIn conjunction with the Grand Wine Tastings\, we will also be hosting our Try Something New wine tastings. SUMMARY:E&J Gallo Luxury Wines Tasting with Tom
DESCRIPTION:Story has it that what was once a modest winery became a global empire known as E&J Gallo Winery.\nErnest and Julio Gallo lived long enough to see what their company E&J Gallo has become. However\, none of this matters if you don’t like the wine which is why Tom will be stopping by. Tom is the Luxury Wines Specialist for the Gallo wines. His knowledge and appreciation for wines are more than label deep. He loves to teach so take advantage of this opportunity.

SUMMARY:Fess Parker Winery Wine Tasting at Great Road Kitchen
DESCRIPTION:We have teamed up once again with Great Road Kitchen to host a Fess Parker Winery wine tasting.\nFounded in 1988\, Fess Parker Winery was a retreat from the Hollywood life for Mr. Parker. (Some may have recognized the name but for those that didn’t\, Fess Parker was the actor that played Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone. Here is a link to a few YouTube videos: Davy Crockett & Daniel Boone). Searching for a peaceful plot of land\, Fess Parker fell in love with what is now the eponymous winery. Few bottles of wine later\, and FP Winery and its other labels are at the helm of the wine world. \nUnlike so many celebrity wines\, FP Winery is first and foremost a winery. A winery of brick and mortar that is surrounded by premier vineyard sites with a crush\, barrel\, and guest room. The winemaker may be Fess’ son Eli\, but he was the assistant winemaker to none other than Jed Steele before taking on the title of head winemaker. Eli and his team have honed on a house style; California meets Europe\, some would say. \nThe wines for the dinner haven’t picked out yet\, but as soon as they are it will be posted here. \n \nGreat wine deserves great food and few do it better than Great Road Kitchen.\nWith only a few years at The Point in Littleton\, GRK has already solidified themselves as the place to go. Focused on fresh food\, GRK sources locally when possible so that their menu is exciting and filled with flavor. The menu changes regularly and with the seasons\, and the quality of their dishes is something you can count on. \nThe menu for the dinner hasn’t been set yet\, but as soon as it is it will get posted here. \nTo RSVP reach out to Great Road Kitchen either by calling at 978.952.7333 or emailing at info@grkoysters.com \nThis will be a night of great food\, phenomenal wines\, and good times.\nMenu:

SUMMARY:Craft Single Malt Scotch with Ed Kohl
DESCRIPTION:It’s been many years since I’ve been able to have scotch enthusiast / importer Ed Kohl visit our store.  Ed has been importing craft single malts for a long time and has brought us some exceptional whisky over the years (Kilchoman\, anyone?) \nHis most recent discovery is Spey – a little known craft distillery from… yes\, Speyside\, Scotland.  The impressively clean and light style of the whisky is accented by careful barrel choices and delicate aging.  It’s exciting to have a new single malt in our collection and even more exciting to have Ed show it and tell his story.  He is a true connoisseur and a gentleman. \nEd will be presenting 5:30pm and 6:45pm – showing the Spey line\, plus a couple of surprises.  Don’t miss this chance to discover something new. \nThe seminars are free but please reserve your spot by emailing Tim.

SUMMARY:Grand Wine Tastings: Spring 2018
DESCRIPTION:Finally in writing are our Grand Wine Tastings for 2018.\nOur seasonal Grand Wine Tastings are events that look at what we have done and have to offer. These tastings represent the wine department because the encompass the breadth of the department. Unlike the Try Something New tastings that will be taking place\, the GWT allow you to try old favorites alongside newcomers. And in a dynamic business like ours\, taking time to try wines is important. With so many to choose from\, it is nice to sample them. \nStill into oaky Chardonnay? We will have them. Never tried a Muscadet? They will be there. Want to sample an extravagant Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon? To see those dates CLICK HERE. \n

DESCRIPTION:Come one\, come all. Baystate Wines is a distributor that is going to put up a fight.\nIn a well-established wine state\, it can be difficult being one of the smaller and newer guys on the block. That hasn’t deterred Baystate\, as they have found their stride by bringing us brands we can’t live without. Sean Minor\, Plungerhead\, and Line 39 are three of their top-sellers of a list of many recognizable brands. \nTo get better acquainted with their brands\, Jake carved out some time to stop by and sample some of Baystate’s offerings. SUMMARY:Glendalough Distillery
DESCRIPTION:I am very pleased\, and fortunate\, to have Donal O’Gallachoir hosting a unique Irish Whiskey experience.  Donal is one of the principals at the first craft distillery in Ireland.  Of course\, at one time there were many craft distilleries however\, consolidation and large corporate ownership have shaped distilling in Ireland for a long time. \nGlendalough’s whiskeys bring quality and breadth to what was a ubiquitous category.  If you thought you knew Irish whiskey\, think again.  I was thrilled to learn about the history of distilling in Ireland and to taste spirits that are well outside my expectations.  I hope you will be too. \nTheir newest addition is a gin that offers something very different.  The terroir of the Wicklow Countryside is ’embottled’ using fresh foragings and a traditional (for whiskey) cooper pot still. \nJoin us for an Irish whiskey experience\, December 15th from 4-7pm.

SUMMARY:Baystate Wine Tasting w/ Jake
DESCRIPTION:Come one\, come all. Baystate Wines is a distributor that is going to put up a fight.\nIn a well-established wine state\, it can be difficult being one of the smaller and newer guys on the block. That hasn’t deterred Baystate\, as they have found their stride by bringing us brands we can’t live without. Sean Minor\, Plungerhead\, and Line 39 are three of their top-sellers of a list of many recognizable brands. \nTo get better acquainted with their brands\, Jake carved out some time to stop by and sample some of Baystate’s offerings. Whether it is Line 39 or a newer brand like Dürnberg\, you will find something you like.

SUMMARY:Colonial Classic Golf Tournament (9-Holes)
DESCRIPTION:You might be looking at the name of the event and asking yourself\, what is that? Answer: Something new.\nHaving fun is important because it centers us\, gives us breathing room\, and helps us manage the weekly load. We understand the importance of having fun\, which is why we will be holding our first golf tournament: The Colonial Classic. *Disclaimer: This is a 9-Hole tournament. \nThis is a no-strings-attached\, hassle-free golf tournament that is meant to help us cultivate new relationships and fortify existing ones.\nWe are keeping the golf tournament local and simple as it is our first. The Colonial Classic Golf Tournament will take place on Thursday\, September 14 with a shotgun start at 9:30 AM (be there no later than 9 AM for registration) at the Quail Ridge Country Club. After the 10-hole round\, there will be lunch along with handing out of prizes. –Sidenote: Quail Ridge’s unique layout allows their 9-hole course to be converted into a 10-hole course to accommodate a larger crowd.– The prizes will go to the winners of the following categories: Longest Drive\, Closest to the Pin\, and Best Team Score. There might be other opportunities to win prizes. \nThe setup will be like most golf tournaments where there will be groups of four at each hole. On the Par 3s there will be two groups of four. 10 holes shouldn’t take more than 3 hours\, and a quick lunch afterward should have most of us home by no later than 2. Everyone is welcome to stay longer\, but that is the current schedule. \nTo reiterate\, this is for fun.\nBring a buddy\, or two\, or three to round out the foursome. Drinks will be available (cash bar). This is an event that is supposed to bring out the child in all of us. It’s meant to be a fun\, frill-free morning for both new and veteran golfers alike. \nHope you can make it. \nIf you would like to join us for a great round of golf Click Here to purchase the ticket(s).\nPrizes –\nLongest Drive: Cobra ‘King F6’ Driver\nClosest to the Pin: Odyssey ‘William Hill’ Logo Putter\nBest Team Score 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd: Wine

They are quickly becoming prolific with their recent New England IPA and their delightfully tart berlinerweisses. \nDown the Road started as just a man with a hobby and\, after a few gold medals at brewing competitions\, he decided to turn his passion into his career. \nFor anyone looking for something new\, delicious\, and local this tasting is for you! \n

SUMMARY:Glendalough - Ireland's Craft Distillery
DESCRIPTION:Glendalough is a unique distillery and a standout in the world of craft distilling.  Their whiskies are becoming more well known and represent Irish Whiskey making heritage with very excellent single malts.  Their newest addition is a gin that offers something very different.  The terroir of the Wicklow Countryside is ’embottled’ using fresh foragings and a traditional (for whiskey) cooper pot still.

SUMMARY:O'Hara's Irish Ales
DESCRIPTION:In order to make sure everyone is making the most informed decision they can on Saint Patrick’s Day\, we are bringing Ireland’s less known brewery in for a tasting.  O’Hara’s as been doing their thing since 1996\, but while relatively new to the game compared to some of the other Irish Breweries\, they make beers that stand up to anything else coming from the Emerald Isle.  We’ll be pouring out everything these guys send our way\, so give them a change before reaching for something else.

SUMMARY:Stony Creek #1
DESCRIPTION:Despite being relatively new to our shelves and to Massachusetts\, Stony Creek is making an impact.  Their Cranky line up has everything you need.  Little Cranky is the session IPA\, Cranky their IPA\, and Big Cranky is their double IPA.  Besides these staples\, they have beers for those looking for something other than hoppiness.  Recently their Dock Time won a gold medal for Amber beer and I think it is maybe the best amber we have on our shelves.  But I’ll let you all come to your own conclusions at our first Brewery of the Month tasting.  July 9th\, 1-3pm.
