SUMMARY:Colonial Spirits' 5th Annual Summer Bash
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Colonial Spirits’ 5th Annual Summer Bash.\nThe Summer Bash is one of our favorite event of the year. Unlike our samplings and seminars\, the Summer Bash is a time for fun and festivities. It marks the beginning of summer\, the season of get-togethers and slower days. Summer may be too hot for some\, but with the right people and the right drink in your hand\, it makes for some of the best stories. The first of which is right here. \nWith a tasting lineup that is sure to chill you down\, plenty of BBQ (hot dogs and burgers)\, and a few yard games this will be our biggest event yet. Beer\, liquor\, wine\, and mixed drinks will be sampled throughout the afternoon. Take a step outside and you will find one of our very own manning the grill along with favorite yard games. Bocce anyone? We may bring back cornhole as well\, but now I’m getting ahead of myself. \nInstead of stating the reasons you should go\, I’m going to say\, “GO!” Life is about making memories\, so why not make one with us. \nThe line-up: \nTito’s Vodka — 1-4 pm \nCleveland Underground — 1-5 pm \nStirring’s Cocktail Mixers — 1-5 pm \nHouse Bear Brewing Mead — 1:30-5 pm \nJack’s Abby Craft Lagers — \nNight Shift Brewing — \nTrue North Ale Company– \n

SUMMARY:Fess Parker Winery Wine Tasting at Great Road Kitchen
DESCRIPTION:We have teamed up once again with Great Road Kitchen to host a Fess Parker Winery wine tasting.\nFounded in 1988\, Fess Parker Winery was a retreat from the Hollywood life for Mr. Parker. (Some may have recognized the name but for those that didn’t\, Fess Parker was the actor that played Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone. Here is a link to a few YouTube videos: Davy Crockett & Daniel Boone). Searching for a peaceful plot of land\, Fess Parker fell in love with what is now the eponymous winery. Few bottles of wine later\, and FP Winery and its other labels are at the helm of the wine world. \nUnlike so many celebrity wines\, FP Winery is first and foremost a winery. A winery of brick and mortar that is surrounded by premier vineyard sites with a crush\, barrel\, and guest room. The winemaker may be Fess’ son Eli\, but he was the assistant winemaker to none other than Jed Steele before taking on the title of head winemaker. Eli and his team have honed on a house style; California meets Europe\, some would say. \nThe wines for the dinner haven’t picked out yet\, but as soon as they are it will be posted here. \n \nGreat wine deserves great food and few do it better than Great Road Kitchen.\nWith only a few years at The Point in Littleton\, GRK has already solidified themselves as the place to go. Focused on fresh food\, GRK sources locally when possible so that their menu is exciting and filled with flavor. The menu changes regularly and with the seasons\, and the quality of their dishes is something you can count on. \nThe menu for the dinner hasn’t been set yet\, but as soon as it is it will get posted here. \nTo RSVP reach out to Great Road Kitchen either by calling at 978.952.7333 or emailing at info@grkoysters.com \nThis will be a night of great food\, phenomenal wines\, and good times.\nMenu:

SUMMARY:1634 Meadery: Turning Honey into Wine
DESCRIPTION:On the 6th day\, there was honey and shortly after Mead. At least that is how 1634 Meadery would have you believe it.\n1634 Meadery has taken one of the oldest alcoholic beverages known to man and has made it ‘cool’ again if you ask us. What was once a specialty drink is slowly turning into a mainstay and 1634 is leading the way. If you are new to mead the Raspberry Delight might be the place to start. However\, for those that want mead to flow like water\, the Viking Victory is where it is at. Regardless of your knowledge for or experience with mead\, 1634 has the bases covered. \nThese are some of the best meads in MA and they prove it with each and every bottle. Come and see for yourself. \nCheck out their YouTube Channel

SUMMARY:Try Something New Wine Tasting Series - Canceled
DESCRIPTION:Canceled!\nFrom Ancient Lakes to Mudgee: Try Something New Wine Tasting Series. Because wine is fun.\nWine is fun; what a concept. And what better way to enjoy and see the beauty of wine than with a wine tasting? Sampling wines is a staple for most wine shops. They allow buyers to decide if a particular bottle is a fit for the store. Or they give you\, the customer\, the opportunity to try it before buying it. Not every wine is for everyone and finding the right one can sometimes be difficult. \nWine Enthusiasts have been alienated by the wine industry. Partly because of the sheer number of wines there are\, and partly because describing wines can be overwhelming. \n“Flower petals atop oak shavings with blackberry undertones.” Did you not get the same notes? \nAlthough the industry tries desperately to make wine easy\, at times it feels like they are making things harder. We know that describing wines is not everyone’s forté\, and that wine is personal\, which is why we are bringing them to you. \nWine should be something we are all comfortable with. Like bread\, fruits\, and the other foods we eat.\nWine is a consumable which is why enjoying it is more important than describing it. And why trying it is the best way of knowing. Which is why for 2018 we will be introducing the Try Something New wine tasting series. The idea is to bring to the table wines that are new and unique. We are going to bring FUN back to wine by reminding everyone that wine is first meant to be a learning experience. Like trying a new dish at home or the restaurant. Wines offer individual experiences to each person and with each glass. \nThe Try Something New wine tastings are meant to compel\, excite\, and make enjoying wine easier. So stop by and see what we will have in store for you. \nClick Here for other opportunities to learn\n

SUMMARY:Titos Vodka
DESCRIPTION:Tito’s Handmade Vodka is designed to be savored by spirit connoisseurs and everyday drinkers alike. It is micro distilled in an old-fashioned pot still\, just like fine single malt scotches and high-end French cognacs. This time-honored method of distillation requires more skill and effort than modern column stills\, but it’s well worth it.

SUMMARY:Wente Vineyards the Chardonnay Specialist
DESCRIPTION:Wente Vineyards has a history of winemaking as prestigious as the California winemaking industry.\nOne of the first wineries established\, Wente Vineyards cut its teeth early on in more ways than one. However\, what truly put Wente on the map was the creation of the Wente clone Chardonnay. \nOne of the greatest untold tidbits of information is that not all Chardonnays are the same. It is clear to most that the winemaker and region makes a difference\, but how many know about clonal variation. From 667 to Wente\, the different clones of Chardonnay impart their own nuances on the wine. The Wente family found the now eponymously named clone in France and discovered it suited the California climate. Fast forward to today and the Wente clone is responsible for 80% of the Chardonnay coming out of Cali. \nWente Vineyards specializes in Chardonnay and it is easy to see why.\nTheir wines manage to balance full tropical fruits with well-managed oak and fresh acidity the way good wine was meant to. This description also holds true for the reds. Easy drinking and meant to entice the palate and coax you into having more. But you don’t have to believe me. Just stop by and taste for yourself why Wente Vineyard is the real king of Chardonnay.

SUMMARY:E&J Gallo Luxury Wines Tasting with Tom
DESCRIPTION:Story has it that what was once a modest winery became a global empire known as E&J Gallo Winery.\nErnest and Julio Gallo lived long enough to see what their company E&J Gallo has become. From selling cases of their eponymously named wines to some of the most recognizable names in the wine industry. It’s difficult to say that their wines aren’t for you because their reach is extensive. From Australia to New Zealand to Italy and back to the states the wines are only bound by the imagination. Looking for something light and exciting? They have it. How about a rich red with layers of flavor? Better yet\, a highly acclaimed Italian winery? Three of them if not more. \nE&J Gallo wanted to be more than just another large wine company\, they wanted to be standard bearers. Having wine wasn’t enough\, they wanted the best wines. Sure\, Livingston may not have been featured at your last wine dinner. But the 2013 Louis Martini Lot 1 might one day. However\, none of this matters if you don’t like the wine which is why Tom will be stopping by. Tom is the Luxury Wines Specialist for the Gallo wines. His knowledge and appreciation for wines are more than label deep. He loves to teach so take advantage of this opportunity. \nCheers! \nLooking for a great Cabernet Sauvignon that is sure to please?\nLouis Martini Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County

SUMMARY:Try Something New Wine Tasting Series
DESCRIPTION:From Ancient Lakes to Mudgee: Try Something New Wine Tasting Series. \nClick Here for other opportunities to learn\nHere is what we will be pouring this week:\nTable 1\nBucci Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico\nBortoluzzi Pinot Grigio Venezia Giulia\nCanella Prosecco Superiore Valdobiadenne\nToscolo Chianti\nPoderi di Luigi Einaudi Dolcetto Dogliani\nFantini Montepulciano d’Abruzzo \nTable 2\nC. SUMMARY:Have you heard of Fig Vodka?
DESCRIPTION:Craft distilling is is why these vodkas are worth getting excited about.  Michael Davidson created the now famous Black Fig Vodka in the midst of a proliferation of flavored vodkas.  His process – avoiding syrup and flavor additives – has demonstrated true craftsmanship and earned his product its fame while others faded away. \nNow this local producer is bringing out the first Apricot Vodka in the market and has\, once again\, proved exceptional quality. \nThe flavor choices may seem unusual but there is a reason and\, once you’ve tried them\, you will be easily convinced that these are a great choice. \nMichael will be presenting his incredible vodkas and cocktails from 4-7pm.

SUMMARY:Wither Hills & Sophora Wine Tasting w/ Liz
DESCRIPTION:We welcome back our favorite Kiwi\, Liz\, who will be representing Wither Hills and Sophora wines.\nIn a not too distant past\, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc was anything but known. Now we can’t seem to get enough of it. Some wineries rely on their legacy for continued growth\, while others put it all on the table. Wither Hills is the latter. \nOnce a source of Sauvignon Blanc for some of the wineries of today\, Wither Hills has decided that producing their own wines was going to be the plan going forward. The Sauvignon Blanc is crisp and palate enticing. The Pinot Noir is lush with lean fruit notes and a nice backbone of smoke. \nSophora is a sparkling wine producer based out of New Zealand. New Zealand’s wide range of regions and cooler climate makes it the perfect country for sparkling wines. These wines have life and resonate with the vibrancy that New Zealand wines are known for. With hints of quince\, orange rind\, and lemongrass these sparklers offer just as many nuances and flavors as the rest. \nBoth Wither Hills and Sophora produce great wines\, but nothing beats finding out for yourself.

SUMMARY:What's New in Single Malt?
DESCRIPTION:Remember when American brewing took off? Much like how that revolution created an abundance of world class beer\, American distilling is on pace to do the same – with Single Malt\, no less! \nIf you like Scotch this is a tasting you won’t want to miss.  The breadth\, quality and character of American Single Malt is exciting to say the least. \nExperts from the distilleries will be pouring samples and explaining how they have produced a centuries old spirit in the modern world. \nA free tasting of incredible single malt – 2pm to 5pm.

SUMMARY:Ardbeg Bus Tour
DESCRIPTION:Over the years Ardbeg has staged a mock rocket launch in the parking lot\, driven a motor cycle in the store and hosted a ‘space simulator’ in front of the store.  What’s next\, you ask? \nA giant\, double-decker bus of course! Don’t worry about what the driver can see through that image filmed windshield – the bus will be parked when you get here anyway.  Inside the bus is where the fun is.  The Ardbeg ‘sensory experience’ is sure to be unique with both floors of the bus offering hands-on education. \nTo complete the experience\, the taste portion will be taking place inside the store.  Try some Ardbeg\, check out an awesome bus and have yourself a fun time!

SUMMARY:Boston Winery: Wines from the City
DESCRIPTION:Who knew Boston was a hotbed for winemaking? Someone did and they called it Boston Winery.\nLet us be honest; there aren’t any grapes being grown in Boston\, at least not like California. But the wines are being made in Boston. Californian grapes are shipped to Boston\, then they are crushed\, aged\, and bottled right here in our home state. Making wine is not that difficult\, it’s making drinkable wine that is. We have seen many “crush” wines (no vineyards or facility) in our day but few have demonstrated their capacity like the group at Boston Winery. \nFrom their own brands like ‘Without Papers’ and ‘Bread & Roses’ to the Black Dog label for none other\, the wines compete with the best. Their wines exemplify the varietals and styles appropriately and at a price\, we can all appreciate. \nBut don’t take our word. Try it for yourself. \n  \nLooking to find out what other tastings we might be offering? Click here.

SUMMARY:Apothic Wines Tasting: The Mystery Unfolds
DESCRIPTION:What is it about Apothic Wines that keeps us coming back for more?\nApothic Wines is relatively new when it comes to wineries. That being said\, their meteoric rise to stardom is the opposite of slow and steady. \nIt’s now 2018 and Apothic Wines can be found in red\, white\, and rosé variations. The red blend which is their primary offering is now available in Crush\, a light red with soft fruit flavors\, and Dark\, a richer red with jammed berries and baking spices. Also available are the Seasonal Offerings which are only available while supplies last. In this category\, there is the Inferno\, a whiskey barrel aged red that has intense spiciness\, and Brew which adds cold brew coffee into the blend. \nTheir innovation and continuous search or excellence are what drives this brand and its wines.\nHowever\, not everyone has heard of or tried these wines and they are looking to change that. Join us for what is sure to be a fun-filled afternoon with good wines and company.

SUMMARY:Wine Tasting with John Grange Wine Broker
DESCRIPTION:Nothing beats a tasting with someone that knows what they are talking about. That’s why we are hosting a wine tasting with John Grange.\nJohn Grange and his team are just those people. Wine tasting is unique because each bottle of wine has a story to tell. Which inevitably makes the person behind the table a storyteller. Wine isn’t sold based on your decibel level\, it is sold by the history each glass unravels. The story behind the wine isn’t just a story it’s its DNA. Which is why having a wine tasting with John Grange and his team is so vital. They make it an experience and not just another interaction. \nWhich is why we are happy to have John and his team back. \nAs a wine broker John represents different wines for different importers. Himself along with his team then learn the history of the wineries and subsequently its wines and help promote them. \nIf you like wine tastings here is a list of a few more you might be interested in: Click Here\nLineup:\nLes Darons Rouge Languedoc\n3 Brooms by Barker’s Marque Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough\nCuvaison Chardonnay Carneros\nCuvaison Pinot Noir Carneros\nLilac wine by Jeff Carrel Cotes du Roussillon Villages

SUMMARY:Testa Wines South American Tasting with Wendy
DESCRIPTION:Testa Wines: Bringing the highest caliber wines to your dinner table.\nTesta Wines may be less known than Diageo and Moet Hennessey\, but their impact in the wine industry resonates to this day. Having once been the importer for little brands like Veuve Clicquot\, Antinori\, and Mouton Cadet\, it is easy to see why we are excited about working with them. \nMost recently\, Testa has found their way to South America where they have discovered some gems.\nThe first is La Mision\, a project started by Domaine William Fevre. Due to the rising demand in Burgundy and lack of land\, William Fevre has decided to venture into other regions. It may not have been their 1st choice\, but Chile was where they decided to plant their vines. Using clippings from their vineyards in Burgundy\, William Fevre planted vineyards where they deemed most appropriate and started La Mision. The wines are precise\, to say the least. The white wines are reminiscent of wines from Burgundy with minerality\, acidity\, and balanced fruit flavors. The red wines resemble wines from Provence with laid-back fruit flavors and fresh acidity on the finish. \nThe second is Proemio; Argentinian wines with an Italian heritage. Like most Italians immigrants Marcelo Bocardo came from a family that emphasized eating well. Not only did this apply to food but it also applied to wine. However\, eating steak every day isn’t common so why the necessity for over-extracted wines? Marcelo went out to create wines that would pair well with common household dinners. Hence Proemio. The wines emphasize the quality of the grapes and the regions they were grown in and heighten foods versus overpowering them. \nWendy\, the local rep for Testa\, will be here to engage your palate and open your mind to these newcomers. She will be pouring the wines and educating us on why these wines are the new frontier for Soth America. \nWines being sampled:\n\nLa Mision Reserva Especial Chardonnay\nLa Mision Reserva Especial Pinot Noir\nLa Mision Reserva Especial Carmenere\nProemio Cabernet Sauvignon\nProemio Reserva Malbec\nProemio ICON

SUMMARY:Cleveland Underground Bourbon
DESCRIPTION:Cleveland Whiskey has developed a truly innovative technology to create a line of revolutionary new flavor profiles that push the boundaries of traditional bourbon. For generations\, oak has been used to age spirits simply because it has the right pore structure to hold liquid. It’s hard\, if not impossible\, to make a barrel out of black cherry\, sugar maple\, or apple wood that doesn’t leak like a sieve and yet there are so many untapped flavors that can come from these woods. Cleveland Whiskey’s proprietary technology captures those flavors\, letting creativity and innovation shine.
