SUMMARY:Spencer Trappist & Bantam Cider Tasting
DESCRIPTION:On May 16th we are having a two-for-one tasting.  While both drink makers are producing high quality beverages\, they are in two very different categories.  First we have a Trappist Ale from Spencer.  Brewed by the Monk’s of Saint Joseph’s Abbey in Spencer\, MA\, this ale is quickly becoming one of the most highly sought out brews from Massachusetts.  Unfiltered and unpasteurized\, Spencer is golden hued\, full body\, with accents of fruit and subtle hop bitterness.   The other libations we will be tasting are from Bantam\, a cidery out of Somerville.  Bantam produces some high quality\, small batch ciders.  We will be tasting their flagship Wunderkind\, a light and crisp cider\, and the Rojo\, a cider which is aged with sour cherries and black peppercorn and uses an ale yeast.  Come out between 4-6pm to taste these two relatively new\, but well received beverages.  Our old friend Pat Suleski. \n\n\n	Related

DESCRIPTION:Columbia Winery has been available in MA for quite some time\, even if you haven’t heard of them. The Columbia Winery wines have always been great values\, equal to premier brands like Ch. Ste. Michelle\, but they never seemed to catch on they way Ste. Michelle did. It took a very innovative group to realize Columbia Winery’s potential and bring the brand back into the market in a way that had never been done before. The brand was relabeled\, reinvented\, made to be a restaurant only wine\, up until recently\, and with any luck and perseverance will become a power brand soon enough. The wines from Columbia Winery show exemplarily fruit for each varietal\, and great balance with the red blend. The Columbia wines are rich\, well balanced\, and stylistic of not only the varietal but the region.
