DESCRIPTION:It is not very often that we get a bonafide Trappist ale to come out and taste their line up.  So when Dave from Chimay called us\, we of course said yes.  So on August 8th from 2-4pm we will be tasting all the Chimay ales that this Belgium brewery has.  While they do not have the same catalog that most of our American breweries have\, they have been brewing for centuries to perfect their blends.  You will notice that trappists do not have many beers.  There is a reason for that.  I think its somewhere along the lines of “if it ain’t broke\, don’t fix it.”  But what do I know?  August 8th 2-4. \n\n\n	Related

DESCRIPTION:  \nImagine that you have been transported to a wine region in Northern Europe bordered by the Rhine River.  The towns and villages have names like Heiligenstein\, Kirchheim\, and Zellenberg\, and Riesling is the dominant grape. Given the circumstances\, you’d probably think that you were in Germany\, but you would be wrong. The place is Alsace\, and although it has been occupied by Germany at various times throughout history\, the region\, its spirit and wines are decidedly French. \nHowever\, unlike the other wine producing regions of the country\, and most of Europe for that matter\, the wines of Alsace (predominantly white except for some Pinot Noir) are named for the grape varieties from which they are made\, i.e.\, Riesling\, Pinot Gris\, Pinot Blanc\, Sylvaner\, Muscat\, and Gewurztraminer. \nThis Saturday and Sunday\, every Alsatian wine in the store will be on sale at a 20% discount for six or more bottles. In addition\, there will be a tasting of Rieslings and other white wines of the region from 1:00 – 4:00 pm on Sunday. \nOne last note\, people who think that Rieslings are sweet have probably never had the Alsatian variety\, which are dry. Even the region’s late harvest and Sauterne styles have a steely backbone unique to Riesling that adds a distinctive complexity to the overall flavor profile. So if you’ve never tried Alsatian wines\, or are a fan of what the region has to offer\, stop by the store this weekend. \n\n\n	Related

DESCRIPTION:For our first tasting of the year we are having some of my favorite Massachusetts libations producers come in for a 2-for-1 tasting.  For beer we will have the always great Newburyport Brewing Co.  This north shore brewery makes one of Mass’ best year round IPAs with their Green Head IPA.  As well as this fine IPA\, they will have Melt Away Session IPA and Plum Island Belgium White to sample as well.  As for cider\, the Somerville cider makers of Bantam will be kind enough to let us sample some of their stuff.  Their Wunderkind is a great dry cider in a sea of sweet Massachusetts ciders.  We will also be tasting their Rojo\, with sour cherries and peppercorns\, and Americain\, a mixture of old world\, new world cider making techniques that great a really unique\, pie-like flavor.  Come try them all and see why they are some of my favorites.  Saturday\, August 1st 1-3. \n\n\n	Related
