December 2020

Laphroaig and Glencairn

December 11, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

I was temped to call this event a 'smelling' since we obviously aren't doing tastings anymore.  Even though the distinct aromatics of Laphroaig will surely be present, something just didn't ring right with that title. This is much more than just looking at bottles and some sniffing.  It is all about gifts! The range of Laphroaig single malts is a great place to start when picking out a scotch gift, but on this day bottle purchases will include a free,…

Fistful of Bourbon

September 30, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Although it may sound like a lot of Bourbon, Fistful is a relatively new brand, blended form 5 different bourbons.  The blend is an interesting set of layers, from lemon to vanilla to toffee to oak.  The oak has some toastiness and a hint of baking spice and the whole thing develops under a bright nose.

Ardbeg Monsters of Smoke Tour 2021

October 2, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Over the years Ardbeg has staged a mock rocket launch in the parking lot, driven a motor cycle in the store, hosted a 'space simulator' outside and brought us a huge double-decker tour bus to party in.  What's next, you ask? In typical Ardbeg fashion, something less relevant to scotch and more geared towards general awesomeness will be on display. This time it is a way-cool off road truck designed to 'bring Ardbeg to life'! Free bottle engraving and a…

Ammunition Bourbon and Sonoma Vodka

October 7, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

It's time to show off some new products and promote some small producers.  Sonoma vodka is a distilled combination of grapes and grain that build a smooth vodka with an unusually pleasant mouthfeel.  Ammunition bourbon combines classic bourbon stock with a Cabernet barrel finish.  Delicious, craft distilling that's new and interesting.

Bruichladdich (and Port Charlotte) are Back!

October 29, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Bruichladdich is an old favorite at Colonial Spirits... that's because their whisky is so good.  They are a rare producer of un-peated Islay single malt and have an unusual focus on the terroir.  But, you love peated whisky? Their Port Charlotte line is the peated goodness you are seeking.  It's a great story of age-old production and superior quality.  I could go on, but why when you can taste for yourself... Jason Cousins is showing off this great stuff, as…
