No, it’s not as exciting as Kerouac, but in the past year Colonial Spirits has been to every corner of Eastern Massachusetts, as our delivery service expands.
We first started an online ordering and delivery service some years back, but we relaunched the website (with a new look and layout) in April of 2011. Colonial Spirits Delivers is now a little over a year old, and it’s been quite an interesting trip so far as we bring beer, wine, and liquor to a whole new group of customers.
Many people ask us if we find it tedious to be out driving around. No doubt, it can be a drag if our trusty van is stuck in traffic, but we find it rewarding to reach beyond our local customer base and meet new people across the Eastern half of the State. It’s fun to roll through towns we have never been to before. From Worcester to Boston, Plainville to Dracut, we’ve been to just about every city, town, and village in Eastern Mass. this past year.
Though we know the Acton area well and have been in the Greater Boston area for over 40 years, it’s amazing that we can live so close to towns like Shirley or Millis or Franklin or Grafton but have never been there…until now. Though our delivery service is a business endeavor, it also feels like an education as we learn about the ins and outs of cities and towns we didn’t know so well before.
We’ve also become expert at navigating that tricky Massachusetts traffic. To get to South Boston from Acton, for instance, it’s oftentimes better to sneak down the Mystic River Parkway from Route Two to I-93, rather than going through Fresh Pond and onto Storrow Drive. To get to Lowell from Acton you can go 2A to 495, but you can also try Route 27 through Chelmsford.
As the service is still new, we’d like to hear from our customers –old, new, and thinking of ordering for the first time– to let us know what we can do better. Or maybe just to tell us a back road way to get to your home or business.
