Move over Macallan! I’ve never met a scotch drinker who didn’t think that Macallan was a great whisky. It is, but the beauty of enjoying single malts is discovering how many great whiskies there are. The signature, exclusive sherry cask aging is relatively uncommon as sherry casks are the most expensive option. Glendronach is another distillery dedicated to that tradition though. Using only Oloroso casks for 18 years of ageing results in an exquisite single malt that is as good as anything you could compare it to. The tawny whisky is seductive and complex. Walnut, allspice and molasses dance with baked fruits and orange chocolate. It is a decadent experience and a luxurious gift.
