Colonial’s Fine and Rare Wine Cellar

Colonial Spirits is proud to introduce our new fine and rare wine cellar/cabinet.  This climate controlled unit is where we will be storing our finest offerings from Taittinger ‘Comtes de Champagne’ Millésime 1990 to 2008 Château Palmer Margaux and dozens more.

Our cabinet inventory is catalogued on our website at…

https://www.colonialspirits.com/wine/wine-cabinet

Our staff of experienced wine experts are always available to open the cabinet and discuss our selection to help you choose the right wine for dinner, a gift or the next addition to your cellar.  Many of the wines are extremely limited and available only in the quantity on hand.

On the Road: Colonial Spirits Delivers Discovers Eastern Mass.

No, it’s not as exciting as Kerouac, but in the past year Colonial Spirits has been to every corner of Eastern Massachusetts, as our delivery service expands.

We first started an online ordering and delivery service some years back, but we relaunched the website (with a new look and layout) in April of 2011. Colonial Spirits Delivers is now a little over a year old, and it’s been quite an interesting trip so far as we bring beer, wine, and liquor to a whole new group of customers. Experiments!

A couple of weeks ago we spent a good chunk of time installing a new piece of shelving in beer-land, and since then I’ve been slowly expanding some of our selections and introducing some new products.  I’ve gotten a fair few requests for more efficiently spreading the word about the arrival of limited release beers and oddities that come our way, so now we’ve given them a dedicated spot:  the experiment area.  The top two shelves, all the way to the right, are now going to play host to whatever odds and ends arrive that wouldn’t otherwise have a home… for example, right now I have some Troeg’s Flying Mouflan (Nugget Nectar on steroids!), The Alchemist’s “Celia” Saison (gluten-free from a brewery rarely seen in MA!), and the Stone/Bottleworks “13” collaboration brew.

Additionally, I’d like to use this area to evaluate how customers feel about beers I’m on the fence about stocking.  In the coming days you’ll find a chalk board next to the experiments, and the names of any beers that I’m looking for input on… chalk up a tally mark next to things you’ve tried and liked, and those that are popular will become permanent fixtures of the beer shelves.

Lastly, I’m going to try and tweet out the limited beers (those that don’t have waiting lists) as they arrive, so if you want to be alerted whenever some new goodies show up, follow us on Twitter @ColonialSpirits .

Out of the Shadow and into Your Glass: Owen Roe ‘Ex Umbris’ Syrah 2010!!

There are plenty of great domestic Syrah, the only issue is they cost more than what most people want to spend on a bottle of wine.  That is why I am exuberantly happy to say that Owen Roe ‘Ex Umbris’ Syah, Columbia Valley 2010 is in.  One of the greatest domestic Syrah which happens to be plush with flavors of dark plums, cherries, sarsaparilla and cream, alongside hints of cherry, tobacco and peppery bacon.  This wine will mature beautifully over the next 5 years and will continue to drink well for an additional 3-5 .  Can you believe you can get all of this for under $30?  The last vintage of  Ex Umbris received a score of 93 from the Wine Spectator and also happened to be the #25 of the Top 100 list.  Although this is the 2010 and not the 2009, do not worry because 2010 is supposed to be as good if not better (I was told first hand by a few WA state winemakers) than 2009.  I only have 9 cases available so act quickly, prices will go up once people catch on to this wine, especially if it receives another high score.

$28.99 per bottle

If you would like some put aside please feel free to email or call.
